Nat's POV

Some months later...

I was at home, planning the wedding, when the phone rang.

-Who is there?- I asked.

-Nat, it is me Steve- Steve said.

-Oh hi!-.

-You have to come to the hospital now, it is about James- he said.

-What happened?!- I asked.

-I just operated him, he was looking for you when he arrived here-.

-I am on my way!- I said ending the call.

-Who was there?- Bruce asked.

-Steve, I have to go to the hospital as soon as possible- I said wearing my shoes and coat.

-Is him isn't it? That James- Bruce said.
I sighed, he knew me too well.

-Yes it's him- I said.

-Tell me one thing: do you love him?- he asked.

Maybe it was the time, maybe it was time to tell hin the truth.

-Yes, I do- I said.

-Ok- he said sighing.

-I'm sorry- I said leaving the house.

I arrived at the hospital a few minutes later and I found Steve at the entrance, waiting for me.

-What happened?!- I asked.

-He arrived with the police, according to them he helped them to find a boss, a criminal. And that man shot him before being killed by the police- Steve told me.

James risked his life to stay with me... He went against those bad people because I told him I was scared.

We reached James' room and Steve left me alone with him.

-Nat...- James said weakly.

-James... You scared me, don't you dare to do that again to me!- I said crying and smiling.

-I am free now... You don't have to be scared anymore- he said.

-Bruce knows... I think he will want to break the engagement- I said.

-So you are all mine?- he asked.

-Yes, I am- I said and I kissed him.

Some months later...

Bruce and I broke our engagement but after a long talk we decided to still be friends.

And James' moved to my house when Bruce left.

I was happy, I was living with my love and I had I had a happy life.

But I felt that something wrong was coming...
