"Bro, I can't wait to finally see youu."

You started to respond but were cut off before you could reply to your girlfriend's cute comment.

"I know I've said that like, a million times, but it's true." The image on your screen shook slightly as she rolled over on her bed under the red lighting.

"I can't wait to see you either."

You both grinned sleepily at each other and you glanced at the time, realizing it was nearly two in the morning, which meant it was only slightly earlier for Billie.

You'd tried to convince her to go to sleep hours ago, telling her it would only make tomorrow come sooner, but of course she didn't listen. Not that you minded, though. Having her presence in any form was comforting, even if you hadn't yet experienced was it was like to be by her side.

As the minutes ticked by, your eyes inevitably grew heavier and heavier, until you physically couldn't keep them open anymore. Billie's voice grew more and more distant until she suddenly fell silent and let out a soft chuckle, realizing you had become unresponsive.

"Alright, baby, I guess I'll let you sleep now." She yawned. "Text me before your flight."

You simply groaned in response, practically asleep.

"I love you."

"Love you too." You mumbled into your pillow, hearing her end the call a few seconds later.

The next thing you knew your alarm was blaring right next to your ear, jolting you awake. Your annoyance was quickly replaced with excitement, however, once you remembered why you needed to be awake at such an ungodly hour.

You couldn't help but smile as you stretched and got up to shower and put on the outfit that you'd picked out almost a week ago in preparation for this day.

You quickly did your hair and makeup and gathered up your small amount of luggage, remembering to text Billie on your way out the door. She'd already sent you good morning text, which made you wonder if she'd ever gone to sleep after she got off the phone with you.

Nerves began to build up in your stomach as you climbed into the back of your uber and made your way to the airport. After a while you realized your were biting your nails and stuffed them into your lap, turning your attention to the window where the sun had begun to rise.

By the time it made it's way across the sky and set on the other side you'd be in Billie's arms. Your heart leapt at the thought.

The nervous excitement stayed with you throughout the entire morning; on the drive, through airport security, and as you sat waiting outside of your gate.

It wasn't until you finally sat down on the plane and stared out at the city racing past that you were able to let out a tiny sigh of relief. Most people seemed to hate flying, but you found it rather comforting, probably because it made everything seem so small.

As soon as the landing was announced a couple of hours later, your nerves picked right back up where they left off as adrenaline coursed through your veins. You dialed Billie's number as you stepped off the plane and held it up to your ear as you made your way down an escalator that was hopefully leading you to the right place.

You glanced around and nearly gasped when you noticed a head of blue hair followed by an unmistakable pair of eyes looking up in your direction. Billie's mouth formed into a smirk as she glanced at her ringing phone before putting it up to her ear.

"Wassup?" She said, still grinning.

You couldn't quite seem to get to the bottom of the escalator fast enough, nearly tripping over your own two feet as you reached the ground and practically ran towards her.

As soon as you reached her, she scooped you up by your thighs and planted a long, sweet kiss on your lips without any hesitation. You held her face in both of your hands and kissed her back, realizing people were probably staring but not quite being able to care.

You finally pulled away and met her gaze instead, taking in every aspect of her as she did the same to you. She was even more perfect in real life, which you did not think was possible.

After a few moments of greeting each other, she carefully set you down and picked up your bag that you had dropped at her feet in all your excitement.

"You hungry?" She asked, taking your hand and leading you towards the parking lot.

As soon as the words left her mouth you felt a pang in your stomach that you hadn't noticed before.

You nodded truthfully, still not able to take your eyes off her.

As she began listing off places nearby you more or less tuned her out, that is until you heard her contagious laugh and noticed a hand wave across your vision.

"Are you good?" She looked at you with amusement.

"Yeah. Fine." You blushed. "We can get whatever you want."

"Whatever I want? She scoffed dramatically. Whatever happened to you being literally one of the bossiest people I've ever met? You're kind of scaring me right now."

You rolled your eyes and playfully shoved her in response as the challenger came into view.

"That's more like it." She grinned, unlocking the car and tossing your bag in the back before sliding into the driver's seat.

Unable to stop yourself, you pulled her in for another long kiss, one that ended up turning into a short makeout session. Your hands roamed over each other's bodies, never being able to get quite close enough.

Billie was the one to pull away this time, starting the car and placing a hand on your thigh. "Let's get out of here, yeah?"

You nodded and watched as she maneuvered the steering wheel with one hand, eventually pulling out onto the interstate and rolling down the windows, allowing the wind to whip through your hair.

It was a beautiful, warm sunny day, but that hardly compared to the warmth you felt each time Billie looked over at you and flashed a that cheesy grin of hers.

Once you got to her apartment you both agreed on getting takeout, having no interest in leaving each other's side as you collapsed on the couch.

You laid in Billie's lap as she played with your hair, sitting mostly in silence as you soaked in each other's presence.

As soon as the food arrived you dug in without shame, sticking your tongue out at Billie as she laughed at you.

It wasn't until you were done eating that you realized how tired you were, as did Billie. Her head rested in her hand sleepily as she watched you finish off a burrito.

"Naptime." She announced, dragging you off to her bed. You gladly obliged, changing into comfier clothes and curling into a ball with your head on her chest.

"I wish I could stay here." You pouted, already dreading having to go back the next day.

Billie tilted your head up to look at her. "But you're here right now." She leaned down to kiss you softly.

You nodded and snuggled farther into her, only slightly reassured.

"I'll be able to move soon, and then I can be with you 24/7." She continued, rubbing her hand over your back. "This is just temporary, you know that."

"Promise?" You uttered softly.

"I promise."
