(3rd POV)
The 3rd round began, and just as (Y/N) suspected, Khun had something unplanned up his sleeve. The bag he held was very interesting. It was able to duplicate things. The atmosphere changed in the arena from that of fear, to that of irritation as an immense amount of duplicate crowns fell from Khun's bag.
(Y/N) was right again about that team winning. Bam sat atop the throne, a shimmering, gold crown placed lopsided atop his head. The rest of (Y/N)'s team seemed nervous about joining now, but the (H/C) headed girl stood her ground on the decision to join in the next round. How determined she was.
The 3rd round ended, and the countdown to the fourth began. (Y/N) pressed the button immediately, waiting impatiently for the gates to open. Her pulse picked up, and though she would never admit it, she was as nervous as she was excited, and she was pretty excited for this. Slowly, the barred gates of a few of the cells rose. The group of three stepped onto the battlefield, preparing themselves to try to steal the crown.
Nobody seemed to notice that Khun had put his hair up, or that a new group had stepped out into the arena. A little girl, a man dressed in all black, and an insect-like person. Those that had watched the previous match began to yell. Rather than fighting, they had decided to take down the group defending the crown. The game started, and immediately, the team that wasn't there before began to attack the other contenders.
"Didn't you hear the plan? We were going to take them out before we started fighting-" The man who yelled this was cut off as he was hit with another attack by the new group.
(Your POV)
I clenched my teeth as I was attacked. The insect man was after me, and all I could do was stand my ground and hope my teammates had better luck. As we fought, the fatigue set in. I was now in the need of a break, which meant everyone else was probably tired too. Even so, this new team kept fighting like there was no tomorrow. The little girl with black hair didn't even need to fight, she just spoke another language and whoever her opponent was would go down.
Now, not only were we fighting the mystery group, we were fighting the other teams as well. I noticed nobody was going for the crown, and I tried to call to Faron. He couldn't hear me, and I figured Kieron wouldn't be able too either. I sighed, and knew that this round was finished before it started.
I began to pant heavily, my (H/L) hair getting in my eyes as I fought. Then I heard it. Faron let out a terrible yell. He had gotten hit with something. Soon after the guttural sound began, it abruptly ended. I felt sick to my stomach, and lost focus, only to be brought to the ground a moment later. I must have been either the last one fighting, or the second-to-last, because as soon as I hit the ground, the announcer stated that the match had ended.
I stood up, looking for Kieron. My eyes met his lifeless body. He had been stabbed, but he went peacefully. Hot tears pricked the corners of my eyes, and I turned my head to the floor. I knew the consequences of playing, and therefore it was my own responsibility, as well as my own fault that they had died. It wasn't only them though. Several teams lay mortally wounded or already dead on the ground. A few survivors like myself were mourning over the dead bodies of their fallen teammates.
I wouldn't show weakness. Not now. I was lucky enough to survive, and so I would leave with dignity. I walked quietly back to my waiting room, the door sliding shut behind me. Several others soon followed suit. Now my teammates were dead, and I was alone again. I knew something like this would happen, and from now on, I'll make sure to keep isolated again. Just like I was for so many years before.
(A/N)
Sorry it was such a short chapter, the last one was longer than expected so I figured I would try to balance things out with this one. Also, most of what you needed to know went into the one before this, and yes, I agree, the crown game is taking a while. Trust me, it will eventually be worth it, and this is the last chapter that is fully centered around it. Press F to pay respects for the fallen.
