(Your POV)
People began to appear in the cafeteria for breakfast. It started as a slow trickle, but by the time 5 am had rolled around, the place was basically full. Bam, Purple sweats, Scary swordsman, and Rak piled on at our table, as well as a few others, including someone I had never spoken to before.
A very pretty but scary woman sat at our table. Her short brown hair delicately cupped her soft features, while her golden eyes pierced whatever she set her gaze upon. Her hair was pinned up on the right side of her face, exposing a small horn that protruded from her skull. She gave off a similar vibe to that of the lizard, only stronger.
That's when I realized where I had seen her before. The first day... She stared quietly at her food, seeming agitated about something. The air buzzed with chatter, but I didn't pay attention to any of it until Bam spoke.
"Um, Ms. Endorsi?" That was her name...
She only responded with a simple "Huh?"
"Would you like to be friends with Hatz?" ...Just Hatz?
I glance down at my sheet of names, and realize Endorsi's signature had already been scrawled across one of the name slots. I haven't even met her, and my paper is already signed? I look back across the table at them and continue to listen.
"With him?" She looks to the black-haired swordsman on her left. "Are you setting us up on a date? He's handsome." Sarcasm dripped from her tone of voice.
"Yeah! And he's super muscular, too." Bam replied, not catching the hint. I watched Khun roll his eyes.
"Bam, it's like you're selling a product." he mumbled. This earned a chuckle from me.
"I'm sorry, but no." Endorsi said with a smile across her face. It made me slightly uncomfortable how she didn't change expressions- although I don't often either.
"Aw, why? He'll show you some of sword tricks if you want!" Hatz hadn't said a word.
"Bam... I'm sorry, I'm not allowed to date." she said, slightly softer than before. Still, the smile hadn't left her face.
"Really? That must be one dismal household." I tuned out of the conversation at that point, opting to get up and throw my garbage away.
As I walked, I passed the lizard woman, who was heading to the table closest to ours. At the very edge of my hearing, I heard her say "Having fun with these guys... Shame on the princess of Jahad."
I paused. It had been discovered not long before that Anaak Jahad was a princess. That was obvious from her last name, but now not only do we have one princess among our rankings, but two?
I shake my head to clear my thoughts, and finish my short journey to throw out the muffin wrapper, and to return the mug. I decide not to return to the table, opting to head back to my room and get ready for training today. I turn, wave, and depart.
As exhausted as I am, I can't sleep through the day. Instead, I do some stretching, and grab the spare thorn that was given to me at the beginning of the season. I swing it once, and then glance at my clock. 5:30 a.m. Training starts at 6, so I have a few minutes to kill. I grab my notebook again, and read through the pages that I had written, making a few adjustments here and there. By the time I had made it to my previous stopping point, it was already 5:55, so I had to sprint to today's training.
I stepped into the room, and instead of the lecture hall, we stood on a grassy field. The scouting training for today began.
-Time skip brought to you by the fact that I've never done a time skip before-
I wiped the sweat off my face and headed out the same door I came in through. Shortly after, I was followed my the rest of my classmates. Just like a slightly more dangerous gym class, I thought to myself as I walked back to my room for a shower. I changed out of my worn clothes, tossing them onto the pile that was already growing in the corner before heading into my bathroom and getting into the shower. At this point, I was so tired I could fall over, but I stayed up, and decided to go to bed without dinner.
I got out of the shower, threw on an oversized hoodie, and climbed into bed, drifting off almost immediately. Enveloped by darkness again, I could see them all. My family and friends, all calling out the same thing they did all those nights ago. Honey and sugar dripped from their tones, but they were much further away than before. They held out their arms to me, but I didn't move. I didn't feel anything towards the people at home any more. They were just characters in a movie I was no longer part of.
I heard his voice then. "(y/n), are you okay?"
I shot up in bed, blinking rapidly. "Khun?" I ask softly.
"Yeah, you weren't at dinner, so I thought I would come visit to make sure everything was okay. Can I come in?"
"Just give me a second, the door is locked." I slide out of bed and throw on a pair of pants before heading to the door and opening it.
Khun stood in the doorway with a relieved look on his face and a granola bar in his hands. "Here. You haven't eaten since breakfast."
I smile and take the bar from him gratefully, retreating into my room, but leaving the door open for him to enter as well. I sit on the bed, and pat the space beside me, offering it up for him to take a seat on.
We sat in silence again, just like we had earlier this morning. It was warm and comforting, like a hug from someone you love. I payed attention to the granola bar, but I could feel his eyes on me.
"How many times do I have to tell you?" I met his eyes this time. "Staring is rude." I smiled as his face became dusted in pink. Then without warning, he reached up, cupped my face in his hands, and his lips met mine.
