Every second Friday nights were Family Nights. It was a tradition that Jupiter had come up with two months ago. Since on Saturday nights Frank usually was throwing some sort of party and Sunday nights are the nights before the school week starts, that left only Friday nights and since Jack couldn't come home every weekend, they made in fortnightly.
Family Nights were spent together, as a family either playing games, watching movies or simply talking. Though they weren't always a full family gathering as Jupiter was sometimes away (he tried to avoid that though) and sometimes Jack couldn't make it home, but the nights they were all there were the best. They gave Morrigan something to look forward to through chaotic weeks and she doubted she was the only who looked forward to them.
Tonight was a Family Night and Morrigan was thrilled. She had been waiting two weeks for tonight and she only had to wait a few more hours... well, the rest of the day - she was on hometrain on the way to WunSoc at the moment. Apparently her excitement was visible.
"Someone looks excited," Cadence said as she sat down next to Morrigan on the beanbag, handing her friend one of the two biscuits she had. Morrigan just smiled brightly.
"Unusually excited, if you ask me," Hawthorne mumbled out through a mouthful of biscuit, plopping down on a beanbag across from the two girls.
"Well, I didn't ask you, did I?"
"I didn't mean it literally-"
"Still doesn't answer why Morrigan is so excited," Cadence pointed out.
"Because it's... what do you call it.... Family Night! That's it! That's why you're so excited! Because you get to spend tonight with the staff from the Hotel! Tell me I'm right!" Hawthorne said, eagerly.
Morrigan hummed her confirmation, still smiling brightly.
"HA! See Cadence! I can be right sometimes!"
"Still doesn't mean you're not stupid."
Today was going to be a long day.
After school...
Morrigan groaned as she finally flopped down on her bed. Today had been exhausting, but she was still excited about tonight. She changed out of her uniform and into a pair of black jeans and a dark purple jumper. She made her way to the 6th floor to the Cinema Room. Tonight, they would be watching a movie.
When Morrigan walked into the Cinema Room she noted that only Jupiter and Fen were missing ("They'll be here shortly Miss Morrigan, they're just grabbing the drinks," Martha told as she passed her"). She quickly located Jack and walked over to a spare seat next to him.
"Hello," she said while sitting down, "How have you been?"
Jack looked up from his book and grinned, "Not too bad, yourself?"
"Well, today was exhausting."
"Oh?"
"Yeah, you see.. Hawthorne sort of-"
"Oh no, if it involves Hawthorne, it can't be good."
Jupiter and Fen then walked in and began handing out treat bags, eventually making their way up to Morrigan and Jack.
"Well hello you two," Jupiter grinned, passing a bag to each of them then sitting down on the other side of Morrigan with the last bag, "fancy meeting you here!"
Morrigan laughed while Jack rolled his eyes, not even bothering about hiding his smile. Just then, the lights dimmed and the projector could be heard coming to life.
After the movie...
The lot of them all stepped out of the Cinema Room blinking in the sudden light, the light was dim but too bright for the eyes of those who had been in the dark movie room. They had watched the movie, The Princess Bride. In Morrigan's opinion, it was one of the best movies she'd ever watched, but it was not her favourite part of tonight. Her favourite part was just spending the evening with her loved ones, it had given her a new strength to face the next 2 weeks until the next Family Night. Saying her goodnights, Morrigan walked to her room, tired, but happy.
