It turned out i was locked in a small room at the very top of the building where i was interrogated by Claw. The building was empty when we ran out, my face sweaty from the heat in that room. The building was completely empty. Work must've ended. I nervously looked back. The door was still closed.

We bolted down some spiral stairs, raced through the corridors where we were greeted with the front doors. Kara kicked the doors open and we were free.

We both climbed over the metal fence and we ran to the edge of the forest.

Kara looked behind her. No one was there. She put her hood over her head and looked at me with her watery blue eyes. It was filled with tears.

"The core," she said. "Claw took it. New York is dead."

Those words comprehended in my brain and i realised the horrifying truth: everyone in New York is going to die. I slowly nodded to her words. Suddenly, a long drawn-out scream sounded faintly from Claw's building. We looked at each and ran into the forest.

I bolted out of there as fast as i could, pushing branches out of the way. We reached the outskirts of the town.

"Subway station." panted Kara. "Let's go."

We ran as quick as we can. The sun was beginning to set. The sky was an magnificent shade of orange, the sun round and shiny in the sky. The streets were now noisy, with cars zooming out and about. The streets was still empty with people, though.

We kept turning down streets, right or left, my feet following Kara, who seemed to know this city really well. Before i knew it, we were at the Glen Street subway station again. I looked at the dented, metal steps which was covered with rubbish. We hammered up those stairs nosily, where we reached the main station. It was completely empty.

"The train must've already gone." said Kara. "We'll have to wait."

We went up a set of smaller metal stairs and we reached the station where we had got off at. Kara led me behind a graffitied bench and she hunched down and so did i.

"Where are we even going?" I said, looking behind me.

"Back to my house," she said, her voice unusually harsh. "Claw won't start up the weapon immediately. He'll wait, i know he will. We'll go back to the lab and i'll train you up."

"You'll what?" I said, not believing my ears. "Why?"

"Because you'll need it to fend off Claw," said Kara bitterly. "Claw's got the power core, so now we have to stop him, it's our only option."

"But we can't, he's too strong!" I yelped. "You saw him back there, he was knocking us out like we were flies!"

"We don't know if we don't try," said Kara, looking away from me. She then scrunched up her face. "Wait... do you hear that?"

I craned my ears and my heart stopped. In the distance, someone was hammering up the stairs noisily. It wasn't walking normally, it was making the floor shake, it was something aggressive. I stared at her and she stared at me. We all knew what we were thinking.

"Quick, get under the bench properly," breathed Kara, dragging my hand and squashing me under the bench next to her. She drew her pistol and reloaded it. "Don't make a sound."

Now the stomping noise was getting louder. It was coming closer. Kara was hardly breathing. The person thuddered up the station steps. Kara peered around the corner and so did i.

A masked person was standing there. He was wearing all neon green with a green cape. The eyes of his mask looked angry. He looked menacing, the sort of person you didn't want to cross. His shoes had sharp spikes underneath them. His hands were not there, instead replaced with two larger neon green blades, which crackled loudly.
