The next day, i met Kara at school and she seemed to forget about last night and the mention of her mum, so that was pretty cool. I could talk to her like normal. She was a really chill friend.

A friend. Something i had never had before. Well, we were two weirdos. Well, one of the weirdo could knock out Chris and Cable, so i guess that didn't make her a weirdo.

And speaking of the two CC's (Chris and Cable), i saw them in the corridors today, they were walking dazedly, bruise scattered across their arms. Bandages were plastered to their legs and they both had a black eye which made them look like two stupid cows.

Kara did really do them good.

We were walking down the hallway, i had my books under my arms. We were laughing and chatting.

And for the first time -

In a long time -

I truly felt happy.

"Hold on." said Kara abruptly, stopping in her tracks. "I gotta get some books out of my locker."

I nodded, so she walked to her locker, picked the lock and swung it open, revealing what was inside. My eyes widened when i saw what was inside.

There was a few books, pens and paper in there, stacked messily at the back of her locker. But aside from that there was high-tech gadgets, stuck and held in placers all around her locker. I eyed a round, metal ball which had spikes covering it. I looked at it and it buzzed blue electricity out of it. There was multiple of these gadgets around the room. There were what seemed like smoke bombs in there, neatly arranged and stuck on the side of the lockers, with grey, smoky contents in it, two small gauntlets which had a little hook visible out of the knuckles, which were placed on the bottom of her locker. Post-it-notes were stuck everywhere of different colours and a photo of a woman were stuck on there, which i immediately knew was her mum. Photos of big, burly, evil-looking men were also stuck on the other side. But what stood out most in her locker was a giant sword, draped diagonally at the back of her locker, with a blood-red handle and silver blade.

Kara's back was turned and she rummaged through her locker. When she finally turned around, carrying a mountain of books, she caught me staring, awed.

"Oh." She said at the look of my face. She cleared her throat. "Those are all fake, i just make those stuff... as a um, hobby."

"Wow." I said as she slammed her locker shut again. "How did you get all those-"

But at the moment i said that, the bell rang loudly.

"Class." said Kara, cutting over me. "C'mon, we don't want to be late for maths, we'll both get detentions."

                                                                                       ***

The rest of the day passed by a breeze and before i knew it, the final bell had rang and school was over. The whole school came swarming into the corridors like ants and me and Kara were jostled and pushed into the crowd.

"Hey, watch it," Kara frowned as a big burly teenager boy stepped on Kara's foot amidst the crowd.

"You watch it," grumbled the boy, turning around to actually be Cable. When she saw Kara's face, he went as pale as sheet and walked away quickly.

We burst out laughing at his face and still chortling, continued forward down the corridors.

"Hey, wanna hang out now? You haven't been to my house yet?" I asked, stuffing some of my books in my locker, slamming it shut and locking it
