Chapter 1: The Youngest Forman

31 year old Kitty Forman, stared down at the stick unable to comprehend how this outcome came to be. She glanced at the door of the bathroom, hoping that when she went out to face her husband he wouldn't flip like he had when he found out about Eric.

She looked back at the two mocking pink lines. "Damn, how did I get pregnant again so soon?" As soon as she finished her sentence a knock sounded on the door.

"Kitty, he finished the bottle...can you come out before he starts crying? He always cries for me." Sure enough as soon as the words were out of Red's mouth, little Eric began to whimper.

Kitty hastily stowed the test in the garbage, under some tissue. "Coming dear," she fluffed her hair a bit before walking out to take the baby from Red.

"Kitty, is something wrong?" She glanced up at Red, she wondered how he always knew something was up, even when she tried her darndest to hide it.

"Well, um," she wondered how to best tell him. She gave a shaky laugh, "you're not going to believe this, but I'm pregnant again."

Red stopped moving, it looked as if he'd stopped breathing. "A-Are you sure?"

"Well the test had two pink lines so I'm fairly sure," she bounced unconsciously, Eric started nodding off.

"Mama, daddy?" Little three year old Laurie walked up to her parents, rubbing her eye. She must have heard them talking and woke up from her nap. "I hungry."

"Did we wake you up kitten?" Red asked softly, scooping her up. Kitty watched the exchange, wondering how he couldn't be the same with Eric. He began to head downstairs when Kitty spoke up.

"I'll come down in a bit, going to put Eric down." She rushed to Eric's room and slowly lowered him to the mattress, rubbing his back as he started to fuss. "Well looks like you're going to be a big brother already," she felt her eyes well up. She decided right then, even if Red was upset she was happy.

"Laurie, Ella, Eric," Kitty called up the stairs, the three kids fought their way down. "Settle down," she said, hands on her hips. "We're going to go meet the new neighbors.

"Aw mom, I don't want to, Christine asked me to come over, do I have to?" Laurie whined, being ten years old now she was entering into her preteen phase.

Kitty sighed, "go ahead."

"Why does she always get to go places?" Eric asked as Laurie flounced out the front door.

"Because she's ten now, that makes her too good for us I guess," Ella rolled her green eyes.

"Ella," Kitty scolded, as she ushered them to the kitchen. Red was waiting by the sink, drinking a beer. When he saw the kids he set it in the sink. Kitty grabbed a plate off the counter and handed it to Eric. "Don't forget your brownies honey," she stroked the side of his face with her thumb.

"Hey tiger," Red scooped up Ella, making her giggle.

"Let's go," Kitty ushered her family out to the driveway.

"Ya know I just hope these neighbors are better than the last one," Red rolled his eyes. "That Gus Griffin was a real dumbass."

"Red, language," Kitty tilted her head at the kids.

"Yeah, yeah," he turned in time to see a robust, tan man with a fro striding over a small red headed girl at his side.

"Hiya neighbors."

"Oh hello, we were just coming to welcome you," Kitty smiled.

"Well looks like we beat you to the punchity, punch." The new neighbor said jokingly punching at Red.

Red chuckled, his face in a forced smile. "Oh, damn." Ella giggled.

"I'm Bob Pinciotti, this is my daughter Donna," he put a hand on Donna's head. "My wife Midge will be over later, her thumb is caught in something right now."

Red couldn't help when he rolled his eyes. Bob handed him the pie he had carried over, he put Ella down to take it.

Kitty gave a little laugh, "well I'm Kitty," she caught Red as he was walking back to the house. "This is Red, our son Eric and our daughter Eleanor, we call her Ella for short. Kids say hello to Donna." Eric handed the brownies to Bob.

"Hi Donna," Ella stuck out a hand, which Donna accepted with a smile. Ella glanced at Eric to see him staring intensely at their new neighbor. "Eric?" She elbowed him.

"What're you lookin at string bean?" Donna asked, a scowl settling over her features. She then punched him in the stomach, causing him to double over.

He stood back up, instead of crying like he did when Laurie picked on him he smiled. "Wow, you're strong."

Kitty and Bob laughed, Red sighed and went inside with the pie.

"Hey wanna come over and play?" Donna asked looking at Ella.

"Really? I don't usually get to play with the older kids, Laurie's too old and Eric doesn't like to share his friends, plus Hyde is mean."

"Hyde's not mean, he's cool," Eric defended. "And if you weren't such a baby, maybe you could play with us more."

"Mom can I go play with Donna?" Ella asked, her arms folded over her chest, she shot Eric a dirty look.

"Sure, Eric why don't you go with?" Kitty asked.

"But Hyde and Michael are coming over soon," Eric slumped his shoulders.

"All right, I just wanted you to keep an eye on your sister," Kitty petted his head. "Ella you be sure to play nice, remember not everyone likes what you do."

"Ok," Ella smiled and turned to Donna, she took the older girl's hand and hurried next door to Donna's.

"What did your mom mean when she said about what you like?"

"Well Laurie is in to all this girlie stuff, and Eric is a geek," Ella rolled her eyes. "I like stuff that's not for girls, which is why I wish Eric would let me play with his friends."

"Well maybe we should make them play with us," Donna punched one hand into the other.

"I can't fight Eric, he'll tattle." Ella sighed.

"I got your back," Donna winked. "I'm in the wrestling club."

"That's so cool!"

From that day Ella and Donna became best friends. Around middle school they all started hanging out more in the Forman's basement.
