Beck pulled her back closing the door behind them in one swift move. His emotions took over his body. Pushing her up against the wall, he locked his mouth to hers, taking in her scent and savouring her taste.

Rue stilled in the shock of the sudden turn of events, she tried to compose herself since she was still furious with Beck, and he was probably just doing this because she was a Great. She tried to pull away from him, but her body wouldn’t let her, his lips were so warm and full, his tongue fighting against the barrier of her lips to gain entrance. She gave in.

They were so deep, they didn’t even hear Lavender coming out of the room until she started to choke. They broke apart with horrified faces, Rue rushing to help lavender compose herself. ‘You guys don’t waste any time getting to know each other.’ Her face crimson, reflecting the colour of Rue and Beck’s faces. ‘I thought I could still hear you, I was about to tell you my mum is about to come up. She said she wants to meet my roommate, make sure she won’t be a bad influence. So if you can stop tearing each other’s clothes off for a few minutes, I would be very grateful.’

‘We weren’t ‘tearing each other’s clothes off’!’ Rue’s voice was high pitched, still horrified at what she had just done, especially when she was meant to be angry with Beck.

‘Oh come on Angel, given a few more seconds, you would have ripped this shirt straight of me.’ Beck gave a wicked grin.

She let out a deep huff and stormed once more into the room, this time to be followed by Beck and Lavender. ‘I am pretty sure Lavender’s mum would think me a bad influence if I had you in the room.’ She glared at Beck.

‘Why, it’s not like we’re doing anything inappropriate.’ Beck’s menacing grin didn’t once leave his face.

Another huff left Rue’s mouth as she went and sat down on her office chair, spinning herself round to stop herself from strangling Beck.

A few minutes later, Lavender let her mum into the room and introduced her to Rue, and then then Beck as Rue’s best friend since high school. ‘You don’t know how much I want that to be true’. Then again what are the odds she would have lost her mind and being put in a mental hospital? Her bets were pretty high.

The rest of the day Beck wouldn’t leave Rue’s side, she was still mad at him, even though she didn’t really have a reason for being mad at him since he had explained what he had meant earlier, and technically she had kissed him back. She was having mental arguments with herself whenever there was a long pause in conversation. It probably wasn’t her best move since she arrived here, but she couldn’t help replaying the kiss in her mind. It was true. Beck was driving her crazy.

Lavender went out with her mum not long after she had come up to the room, and since neither of them could get in contact with their sibling, it seemed they were alone for the afternoon. Something Rue wasn’t so happy about. However, neither of them talked about the kiss after the air had been more or less cleared.

‘How long have you known?’ Beck was so surprisingly relieved he no longer had to keep this secret from his new companion. This came as a shock since he had only just met her. He was dying inside, he could not wait any longer to learn more about Rue.

‘Not long, I only activated the gene a few weeks ago. But I think it’s your turn to give me answers, you haven’t told me anything about your abilities.’

Beck rolled his eyes. There was no way she had only had her powers for a couple of weeks,. She was probably lying on purpose so that she could get some information from him, before she told him the truth.

‘You’re not getting away with it that easily, now get that beak quacking and spill.’

‘Where in this universe did you think of that one.’ Beck barely got his words out through the full on belly laugh caused by Rue’s casual comment. She kept coming out with the most random lines, but she had a point, he couldn’t expect her to tell him his life story, when she didn’t know a thing about him.

‘Fine, fine. If it the only way I can get absolute information from you, I will spill the beans.’

Rue’s back straightened, she was not sure why Beck thought she was not telling the truth, but if it made him blab about himself she didn’t mind.

‘I have known for about two years, I get help from the foundation, there is no possible way that I have or will ever have more than three powers, but to find out what they are you,’ he looked sternly at her, ‘are going to have to ‘get that beak quacking and spill’ and this time the truth’ he got comfortable crossing his legs ready to listen to her part.

She shook her head. ‘There is no way you’re getting off that easily, I have told you my life story compared to what you have told me!’

‘You must be an alien with a very short life span if that is all that has happened in your life.’ He mocked. He was adamant she wasn’t telling the whole truth and it was killing him inside but still he wouldn’t back down. It would hurt his ego too much if he did. He stood his ground, folding his arms over his broad chest.

‘Fine, It’s probably just a waste of your time being here, if you’re not going to talk, neither am I. We would probably just be sat in a terribly long silence if you are not willing to tell me your powers.’ She was pretty adamant that he would tell her eventually if she put up a strong fight.

‘Suites me, I could sit here staring at you all day if I had to. And if it came to it, all night too.’ Rue’s blood began to boil due to the cockiness radiating from Beck. Still, she had to stand her ground.

Both of them, determined not to be the first to talk, sat opposite each other staring fiercely at each other for about half an hour. Beck’s expression seemed to change along with the reason they were staring at each other. His features softened, his expressions reflected by Rue’s. They started edging closer to each other, at the slowest rate possible, probably record slow even for a snail. Rue realised what was happening, she jumped up and raced to the door. ‘Back in a mo’.’ She had to clear her head. She shut the door behind her and walked as fast as she could, without causing her to trip over her own feet, to the bathroom and sat on the lid of the toilet.
