The wind howls. It's like a mini tornado. I set my phone down as I feel someone approach. The glass table on the porch shakes violently and so do I. A golden jacket appears on my shoulders and I thank Leo. I huddle on the porch bench and await the intruder.
"You okay there?"
"Peachy" I answer.
"I'm sorry, Mavis"
"Do you really mean that? Considering you blatantly ignored my pleas"
"I was out of control and I'm sorry about that"
I let out a bitter laugh. "Out of control you say. You promised, Mason. And you of all people should know how much I hate it when people break thier promise"
"I know, I know Mavis, but it's not that easy"
"How so? All you needed to do, is not think about it"
"Easier said than done, you know. They lied to me"
"Sure they did. But that didn't mean you could break your promise or hurt the people who've loved and raised you your whole life"
"I was ten Mavis, and you where just seven. All I knew where pinky swears and hope to dies"
"So you're tryna say that you lied as well? Mum and dad love you, Mason. You know that"
"Maybe. Maybe all they've been doing is pretending"
"Why do you think so lowly of yourself? The fact that they didn't cast you to the curb the moment I was born should send a message. All these years, they never treated you differently. Not even once. You have no reason to doubt them"
"Look, I came here to ask for your forgiveness and not for all your wise sister talk"
"Well you can't have it"
"What?"
"You can't have my forgiveness. Not until you forgive our parents"
"Mavis c'mon, I don't want us to fight"
"Neither do I. But I don't want mum and dad to be hurt either. Think of it. It's hurting you too, isn't it?" He looks away, pain flashing in his eyes. "I know. So why not put us all out of this misery. At least apologize for the hurtful things you said. They weren't proper" I beging to leave. "Then I can think about your request"
A gust of dust wind, zips past me and into the house. The back doors of the house shake. I sneak inside the house, dropping my jacket on a nearby couch as I watch the wind dissipate to reveal....Jenny?! She hugs my mother and they smile at each other. Do my eyes deceive me? What's she doing here?
I listen intently..."Your Highness, I heard...she now knows the truth" Jenny speaks.
"Yes. I know it's hard for her. I can't even imagine. But I love her so much" my eyes water at my mothers words.
"I understand" she does?
My mother stretches out her hands. They're glowing? A brilliant amber engulfs her palms. "She has to leave for Allozan, but I don't know how to persuade her. Maybe you could help?"
"I'd be honored, your highness"
"Thank you. Would you want your real look before you face her, or do you want to speak with her as Jenny"
"I'll go with my real look. I think we should start leting her see the truth. Besides, I believe she already has a hint" a mischevious smile spreads itself across her face as she turn her head ever do subtly in my direction.
Woah...how did she know?
A sad smile appears on my mothers face and her eyes glow the same amber in her hands. A few gestures of her hands, and Jenny is covered in specs of amber, slowly but surely transforming....woah.
