A bone chilling grin escapes Rajanis lips, showing of his perfectly white teeth and...are those fangs?! A shudder crawls up my spine and he goes back to his impassioned expression.
I don't know if I should be happy, sad, angry or afraid. Happy because I just met a cousin of mine, sad because he happens to be the son of the infamous Griffon. Angry that Thora didn't tell us this earlier and afraid because he seems to be very powerful and he could deliver us to his father like a home cooked meal at any whim.
"......he's been following us for some time" Thora mumbles.
"He's been what?!" Angelo shrieks.
"Seriously Thora, you knew we were being followed and you kept it to yourself?!" I snap.
"I wasn't sure, okay. His presence was hazy, I couldn't spot him"
"You could've at least given us a head a up for crying out loud!"
"Relax..." even though his voice is calm, it still cuts through our shouting like a newly sharpened knife. "It wasn't the princesses fault"
"So it was yours?" I place my hands in my hips.
He gives me a disarming smile and his eyes glow. "...merely water under the bridge"
My head becomes fuzzy, like I'm forgetting something, but my magic kicks in and I snap out of it. "What where you trying to do to me?!"
"My, my, my....you're even stronger than I thought you'd be..." His eyes hold endless secrets.
I realise that most of my friends have backed away considerably. How encouraging. "Why are you out here, Rajani? And why where you following us?"
He heaves a tired sigh. "Questions. So many questions. Can't I ask this time, dear cousin?"
"Fine..."
"Wonderful. Now tell me, why do you all seem so uptight? Don't tell me my father's name threw you off balance.."
"You speak like that's an abomination" Lucas practically seething.
"Why, of course not, machine maker.."
Luca clenches his fist at the nick name. "Luca. The name's Luca"
"Oh, I know you're name alright. I just prefer machine maker. Don't you find it catchy?"
Luca advances toward Rajani, but Thora stops him. "That would be unwise...." she wispers.
"Rajani. You haven't answerd my question"
"No. No I haven't..." his eyes bore into me as he speaks. "I plan to follow you to Allozan.."
Donny bursts into a fit of laughter, clearly mocking Rajani. But the laughter soon turns into coughing.
"Well, this escalated quickly.." Azar comments.
The coughing intensifies and I move to his side. I notice black tendrils surrounding his neck. I turn to Rajanis glowing eyes, his wicked grin piercing my mind.
"Stop!" Angelo belows and a sharp silver dagger bursts from his hands.
Rajani releases his hold on Donny and stops the dagger a few seconds before it gets to him. Black esscence surrounds the dagger as he rolls it in the air, examining it. "Hmmm, interesting" he glances up at Angelo. "...ancient magic..."
"What?" Angelo deadpans.
"Your magic. It is of an ancient source. Don't tell me you didn't know..."
"What are you talking about?"
"You really are clueless aren't you? Your magic is from an acient source, meaning that someone didn't want to die completely and pass on their magic, so there. The said persons esscence is in you. That's where your magic came from"
