Chapter 29

THE THORNTON RESIDENCE

Violet jolted awake at the sound of her alarm, but she didn't feel like getting up. JJ's arms were still wrapped around her.

"Shut it off." He mutters, his eyes still closed.

"Ugh fine." Violet groans, moving to get up, but his arms around her tightened.

"Don't leave." He says, still trying to sleep.

"How am I supposed to turn off the alarm?" Violet asks.

"Use siri, I don't know." JJ says.

"Siri doesn't work, there's no service the hurricane knocked it out." Violet says.

"Fine." JJ says, loosening his grip around her. She wiggled her way outta his arms and turned off the alarm on her phone. It was pointless to have a phone without service.

"C'mon, get up." Violet says to JJ who now had Frankie -the bunny he won at the carnival- in his arms instead of Violet.

"I'm sleeping." He says.

"We gotta get to the Chateau! I have a family brunch thing after so hurry before Top wakes up." Violet groans, but he was still in bed with his eyes closed and arms wrapped around the stuffed bunny.

"Hello?" Violet asks, JJ was very much awake but pretending to be asleep.

"Oh come on!" Violet says, getting back in the bed.

"Let go of Frankie." Violet says, attempting to take the bunny back, but his grip on it was too tight. 

"You leave me with no choice." Violet says, as she started tickling him, which made him squirm and jump outta bed, finally awake.

"Oh it's on." JJ says.

"What?" Violet asks, playing dumb.

"Come here." JJ says, approaching her.

"N-no!" Violet says, running away from him.

"Don't make me chase you." He says, going after her. She ran around the room away from JJ who was chasing her down. He caught up to her and threw her on the bed and started tickling her. She was laughing uncontrollably.

"Okay! Okay! Fine! I admit defeat!" Violet says, laughing.

ONE HOUR LATER - AT THE CHATEAU

"I'm sorry, he's taking you fishing but not Rafe? You're not even his kid." Violet asks.

"Listen I know how this looks.. I can't just bail on him, I'm living in his house." John B says.

"What happens when Rafe finds out he got replaced by you?" Violet says.

"Why are you defending him? All the shit he put you through?" Sarah asks.

"What shit?" JJ asks, getting defensive.

"He did beat me with a golf club." Pope adds in.

"He also cornered me at midsummers, why are you friends with him again?" JJ adds in.

"He has issues- I know, he doesn't mean to-"  Violet says, getting cut off by John B.

"He got kicked out! I'm not replacing him." John B says.

"Okay, can you two stop fighting for one second?" Sarah asks the two siblings.

"That's fifty feet down, and they're using a hundred feet rope.. so I guess this little wagon will go straight to the gold room." Kiara says, explaining the drawing that Pope made to Sarah and Violet.
