Chapter Four
Problems
When the bright light disappears Max finds himself in the bushes under his bedroom window, and of course, he is naked. At first, he is confused, but as he struggles to free himself from the thralls of the evergreens he hears giggling from the street behind him. Using the row of bushes for cover he turns to see who it is that is ridiculing him, It's Kara and a couple of her cronies, they were walking by when he made his sudden appearance, although they think he just fell from his bedroom window. His side steps between the house and bush row until he gets to the edge near the front door, actually it's about ten feet from the front door and he has an attentive audience watching his every move. Max stands there contemplating about what he should do, his audience is taunting him on to make a dash for the door and show himself, and that's when he sees his heroine making a mad dash out her door, across the street past the onlookers and to his rescue.
Sam comes running up to him carrying a blanket to cover him up with, she hands it over to him and turns an evil look towards the street as he covers himself and together they go inside. The front door shuts on a hail of boo's as Max hurries up the stairs picking up his clothes at the top, then turning and entering his room. Sam comes in behind him but turns her back while he gets redressed.
"Holy crap! That was embarrassing," He states.
"That was cool! I saw everything, one minute I was watching Kara and the next 'POOF!' there you were naked!" Sam explains still looking the other direction.
"Shhhh! Someone will hear," Max warns as he walks over to the stereo and starts a CD, Train's song, 'If its love' starts playing, he turns up the volume, but not too loud, just enough to cover their conversation from prying little Evan ears.
"You saw....Everything?" Max asks embarrassed.
"Not that....Well yea I did, but what I meant was that I saw you materialize," she explains.
"Oh...."
"What was it like?" She asks.
"It was different this time, up until now it was like a dream, but this time it was like I was really there. I could touch, smell, eat, and breathe, everything had texture, and depth, it was like it was real," he explains.
"This is getting serious, where did you go? What was it like?" She asks.
"It was kind of like little house on the prairie, only half-pint was a dirty, angry, bitch and her dad was an angry, bitter, old, broken-down old man," Max explains.
"Cool! The old west...Do you know what year? Or where?" She asks.
"No, I didn't have time; I was busy explaining my nakedness," he jokes.
"What were their names; we can look them up online," Sam suggests as she moves over to the desk and starts up his laptop.
Max thinks for a minute and then pulls up a chair and sits next to her by the laptop, the next song starts on the mix CD, White snake's song is this love. Sam looks at him while the computer is booting up, and gives him an inquisitive look and then glances over to the stereo.
"Are you trying to tell me something?" She asks.
"No, it's just a song. I mean I like you a lot just not... I don't want to talk about this," Max stammers.
"Uh-huh, well if the next song is about love you're in trouble bub," she warns, " now what were their names?"
"You think they were real?" He asks.
