*Emma’s POV*
After work that day, we went home. I had so many questions.
“So, what are we going to do?”
“I don’t know.”
“Are you mad at me?”
“No, not at you. I’m disappointed in myself for not knowing.”
“You can’t know everything dad.” I said, and went up to my room.
It was around 21:30 I went up to my room and texted Griffin.
G- hey, did you tell your dad.
E- I showed him the picture.
He then called me.
G- What do you mean, you showed him the picture?
E- I showed him the picture, and he didn’t ask who the guy was.
G- Did you tell him?
E- no, hell no. I’m not going down that road.
G- Ok, just be careful. I don’t want-
E- shhhhhh, I hear something.
I walked to my door, listening to the conversation.
*in the distance.*
“What is this Dianne?”
“I don’t know, I’ve never seen him before.”
“No, never. Then explain what happened.”
“It was photoshopped, I don’t know, I told you I don’t know him.”
“Emma said she found it when she opened up her locker.”
“Oh sure, believe your daughter. Believe your adopted daughter. Who’s been lying since she got here.”
“Emma, can you come down here please?”
E-I, I got to go, I’ll call you later.
G-Okay bye.
E- Bye.
I walked downstairs, reluctantly. Standing by the stairs, which led to the kitchen.
E-What’s up?
G- tell her what happened
D- tell me.
E- at school this morning, I opened my locker and saw the picture. Then told dad.
G- I will ask one more time, are you cheating on me?
She didn’t talk for a moment.
D- Fine, yes, I am. You never make time for me. I’m moving in with him.
G-I thought we were fine Dianne.
D-no, I only went away with you because it would have looked wrong. I am moving in with him. you're always so busy, busy with work. Busy with a boat, busy with her.
She said gesturing over to me.
E- what the hell do I have to do with this?
D- Don't you dare talk back to me like that.
She said, slapping me. I stumbled backwards, whimpering and bringing my hand to my face.
G- Don't touch her like that again. And the hell you are.
D- He proposed.
She said as she pulled out the ring.
My world came crashing down.
