"You know for someone who claims that she doesn't know how to use her abilities, you sure are good at them," Damien stands beside me now taking in the man who lays at my feet, dead.

"The problem is, I don't know how I'm doing it. I don't feel anything inside me building like you guys suggested when I first arrived. I just want something to happen and it does," I replied with a shrug of my shoulders. It is the truth. I feel no surge of energy when using the abilities, I feel no heat passing through my veins. I'm just me.

"The digging down into yourself is just a suggestion we use for those who are new to their abilities, meaning kids, it allows them to be able to control it better. Allows them to activate it. With older more experienced people it just comes naturally, they don't even have to think about it," Damien gently rubbed his hand on my shoulder almost in condolence that they had been trying to use a child's trick to activate the abilities that had laid dormant inside me.

"I did have to think about it though. I wanted him to slam into that tree, in fact I wished for him to fly off of me and slam into that tree and just stay there. Then the next thing I knew there was nothing keeping me down and the guard was against the tree not able to move," I stepped away from Damien, not sure about the sudden bodily contact.

Damien only nods and slowly walks closer to the guards body. He takes on a crouching position besides the body and takes a close look at the clothing that the guard is dressed in before glancing back at the guard that he had taken down.

"They said that the camp is already overrun with GE's, if these guards don't come back they will just send more," Damien has a pensive look on his face. I was almost expecting him to start rubbing his chin.

"Chances are we won't be able to get the documents that we were aiming to get," we separated from the group for nothing. Well not for nothing, we stopped these two from tracking the group down, but those papers could have changed the way this war ended.

Damien still doesn't say anything, instead proceeds to unzip the guards jacket and feel around inside. He continues to rummage around, searching for pockets on the inside of the jacket. Eventually, after finding nothing, he lets the jacket fall from his grasp. He does not stand from his position though and instead sits down, knees up to his chest, next to the dead guard and runs his hand through his long locks.

"I'm not sure what to do from here, if we just leave them here they will be found and someone will follow the trail and hunt the group down. If we continue on with the plan, chances are we won't make it back," Damien looks upwards towards the sky with frustration playing on his face. This isn't the life he deserves, this isn't the life any of us deserve. Just because we are different people are targeting us and killing us off. We wouldn't be dangerous if we were treated equally, they are making us dangerous because we have to defend ourselves from them and we don't need weapons to do it. We look exactly like them on the outside, it is only what is on the inside that is different. One of us could be on the inside of their ranks and no one would ever know the difference.

"Damien do the GE's have anyway of telling if someone has an ability or not? Like a machine that they scan people with?" If my hunch is right I just might have a solution to our little problem.

"Not that I'm aware of, every child is either born with or without it and as they grow older it gets harder to conceal without proper training which is how they are found out. From there, if they do have abilities they are sent to a camp for kids where they are kept until the age of adulthood, after which they are sent to rehabilitation camps, but most never make it there," Damien shakes his head without removing his eyes from the sky. His mind must be moving a mile a minute. He himself was rescued from a camp so he knows what it is like on the inside. He knows how their ranks work, how they respond to commands. How the guards work, eat, breath. He knows how the guards live and unfortunately I am going to have to drag that information out of him because we are going to use that information from his time there to our advantage.

"I have an idea, one that might get us killed, but it would save everyone else and kill a whole lot of them along the way," Damien s head snaps towards me, his eyes wide with fear and doubt, but I could see that for his people he would do anything to protect them. He considers them his family and he would do anything to save them from the massacre that would indefinitely occur if we do not stop the GE's from hunting them all down. When the old man thought that we would lose some along the way, I'm sure the thought never crossed his mind that myself and Damien would be among those who perish.
