Yesterday the meeting with Mr. Smith went very smoothly. It had gone better than I had thought and he liked many of my paintings. He even set another meeting at his office to sign a contract. It was more like an actual job and not just me looking for people to buy my art. My painting, him selling and we both get enough the money we want.
Today, however, was to be a Louis and Dove day, we had decided. As fun as it may sound, we won't be doing anything other than me painting her. And this alone could take more than a full day.I had her seated by the window in front of me. The sun rays beamed through the window splashing on the left side of her face.
The effect made her left eye look a lighter shade of ice blue than her right one. Her jet black hair was shining against the sunlight as her skin took a slight tinge of golden making her look flawless and immaculate. Her cherry red lips were pulled in a small smile, and the way she locked eyes with me was saying a lot. Looking at her made realize how oblivion I was to the fact that I was greatly missing something in my life. This kind of feeling I had with her was delightfully unique to me that I wanted to experience it every other day. Only at that moment did I realize how deeply attached I was to her.She sat in a straight posture having her head high as if flashing her tough attitude. Her blue irises showed the depth of her persona and the way her eyes crinkled as she smiled made her innocence on display as well. She was so many delightful things all combined in one person. She was simply impeccable and as close to perfect as I have ever seen.My brush stroked the white canvas slowly as I started to add colors one by one. "Why were you so uptight with me at first?" I had asked her in an attempt to begin a conversation.
Having spent so little with Dove, she still managed to give me so much to remember. Whether our paths remained intertwined or not, I was at that moment certain she will stay in my heart and mind for decades to come. "I moved here to take a step towards building my world by my self. My whole life I have been living with someone; my parents, my college mates, an old friend from school, and the last was a colleague from work. I never knew how to do my duties by myself and I hated that." I continued to capture her eyes on the canvas as she spoke."All my life I was dependent, having my friends and family help me in nearly everything. It's not that I'm ungrateful, but I have never felt fully responsible, you know. Besides, living alone for the first time, I was kind of worried to trust you at first."I met her last words with a soft smile, seeing how far we have become. "I understand, " I had said still painting her details. "I moved out of my mom's for university, and after I had just graduated, my mom got sick. I had to move back with her to make sure she was all right and I stayed with her until she passed away." My hand movements had stopped for a second at the thought of my mother.
"Having to live on my own after her death, left me empty and feeling lost. But soon enough I could somehow manage my life alone. I learned how to cook, paint walls, clean up, and many other things." Her eyes were studying me as I spoke."Although I see you don't use your cleaning skills much," She had joked making the atmosphere lighter.
"Now I have you in my life to keep scolding me about it until I start applying my cleaning skills properly," I had said proudly making her laugh. The laugh that I have grown so fond of lately; the one which makes her nose crinkle a little and her eyes close a bit. The laugh that makes her look younger despite showing the wrinkles around her eyes and nose. We continued talking while I took my time painting her features, adding the right shades of colors and the right amount of paint. When more than an hour had passed, Dove started fidgeting a little in her chair and asked for a break wish I firmly refused to allow.
I have gotten so focused on the process of painting her by that time and having a break would only pull me out of my concentration and thoughts. I had to tell Dove to stay still many times as she continued to complain childishly.I thought my serious tone would keep her in place but I was wrong. Swiftly, Dove stood up, taking me by surprise. She walked to me as I stared wide-eyed at her. "You don't have to get so intense about it," She had said tenderly.I stood up rubbing my forehead in frustration. Her eyes looked at me innocently making me smile softly. "Sorry, I just usually get consumed by the painting and don't like to lose focus," I said running my hand through my hair. " Can we just grab something to eat then continue later?" She asked with puppy eyes. When I looked at the painting I knew it will need at least one more day anyway, thus I agreed to her offer and she gave me her word to be my guest again tomorrow to continue my masterpiece.
