Nathaniel's POV
I kept pacing back and forth in the waiting room.
I rubbed my hands on my face frustrated that i still have no news about how she is.
I mentally groaned.
I hate waiting.Please Rory hold on for me.Don't let go just yet.I need you.I kept thinking in my head-
BEEP.
BEEP.
No.NO!-Hold on please.Hold on
I wrapped my finger around the bracelet on my wrist-the matching of hers
Aurora's -was a necklace.
I took it off and held it close to my chest remembering the good old times when everything was so much easier.
Flashback-8 years ago
Aurora and I were at my house playing basketball in the backyard.
She threw the ball into the basketball hoop and it went right into it.
"Ohh.That was really good Rory"I said
I continued
"Now that i remember i've got a gift for you.Come here."I told her
"Close your eyes and open your hand."I said softly
She closed her eyes waiting eagerly for me to put her gift in her palm.
I put the bracelet in her palm.
"Open your eyes."I smiled
She opened her eyes and gasped.
"Oh my god Nate this is beautiful"She murmured.Her breath hitched when she saw the picture inside the necklace.
"You're an amazing friend you know that?"She said smiling
"Can you please help me put it on?"She asked
"Of course!Turn around"I pulled her hair to the side and put the necklace around her neck.
She turned to me.
"Thank you Nate-your gift is amazing."She grinned
"You're welcome sweetheart"I replied
I smiled at her and she returned it.
I still replay that memory in my head every day.
I came back to the present when the beeping sound stopped.
"She's stable!"The doctor sighed in relief
I let out the breath i was holding.
"Thank god."I breathed out
I heard footsteps and i turned around
"Hello there son.My name is doctor Jackson.You're the one who was with this young woman when we found you there correct?"
"Yes sir.I'm Nate.Can you tell me how she is ?"I said
"She's lost a lot of blood-the bruises on her face are fixed-it's gonna take time for them to heal-she's gonna feel a little dizzy when she wakes up-she was hit pretty hard.A big piece of glass was found in the side of her stomach but we managed to get it out and closed up the wound."He sighed
He continued
"But don't worry.She's gonna be okay.She's gonna need time to heal but if she's surrounded by the people she loves-she'll heal soon."
My eyes widened but I sighed in relief.
"Thank you for saving her sir."I said
"I'm just doing my job son"He replied
I nodded.
Aurora's POV
All i remember was smiling at him-at my best friend before we got hit.
The real world felt too far now.
Is this what is like?Your life flashing before your eyes?I hope this isn't it.I didn't get to live-really live my life.
Stop Aurora.Be positive.
"Be strong."I heard a voice that sounded like my sister.
BEEP.BEEP.
What?
I opened my eyes slowly.
Where the hell am i?
Then i saw the machines.
Hospital.Bleh i hate hospitals.
Then I remembered.The drive-the car accident.
I groaned
My head.It hurts.
My thoughts got interrupted when the doctor came in.
"Hi miss Griffin.I'm doctor Jackson.How are you feeling?"He said
"I feel like i just got punched a million times."I replied
"Well..You were hit pretty hard.You had a piece of glass in the side of your stomach Your face has a lot of bruises and you lost a lot of blood ."He said.
I gasped
"But i'm going to be okay.Right?"I asked
"Yeah.You just need to be on bed rest for at least two weeks."He said.
"Okay.Thank you"I said
He walked out of the room.
The door opened seconds later.My one and only best friend Nathaniel was standing there.
"Rory?Oh thank god you're okay"He breathed out with tears in his eyes
God he looks like a mess.
He came closer to me and grabbed my waist to help me sit up a little.-
"You're here" I said through my tears
"I'm always here for you remember?"He replied smiling
I hugged him,pulling him close to me.
I rested my head in his neck still crying
"You're okay.I'm still here"He said softly
"Thanks to you."I smiled at him
He smiled back at me.
We were staring at eachother-his hands still on my waist-
The moment got interrupted by a distant voice.
"Nate?Oh here you are!What happened?I've been calling you for hours!"The voice said
"Josephine?What are you doing here?"Nate said
His hands fell away from my waist.
"Are you actually kidding me right now?I'm your girlfriend and who is she?You've been hanging out more with her than with me.I need to get some things straight.If you don't stop seeing her.We're over."She snapped
"Are you cr-"He tried to speak but he got interrupted by her again
"She just got into a freaking car accident i'm here as her be-.He tried again
"You have to choose.Me or her?"She said
My mouth was wide open.
"That's easy.Her"He answered without hesitation.
Her mouth was wide open
"What-No-"She begged
"Only by telling me to choose between you and her-that's it Josie.We're over.Kappish."He said
She screamed loudly
Making me yelp in surprise.
She stomped out of the room.
"I'm sorry that you had to see that"He sighed
Then he came closer to me-where i was laying down and layed his head on my stomach.
I stroked his hair until i heard his voice eaven out-signalling that he was finally asleep.
Why did he choose me over her?
You know why.The voice in my head said
Shut up.I mentally said to my inner voice
I'm glad this is over.
I kept thinking about the accident.My head was spinning.
But was that really an accident after all?
