“Hey.! Mr. Karl, I'm here,” Franklin told as he waved his hands. “Son, keep it low. I was able to see you. I'm afraid if someone would see us",Mr. Karl whispered in a husky voice. Mr. Karl and Franklin started to walk through the corridor. The corridor was very dark like the sky of a no moon day. Mr. Karl took his lighter and lit the candle that he had brought to illuminate the place. They were amused to see infinite photo frames of various families which occupied either sides of the corridor. “What exactly is this place,Mr. Karl? You have been working here for a decade and more. Haven't  you noticed such mysterious space in this home?”asked Franklin with sweat all over his body. Mr. Karl gulped. “I'm as thrilled as you are son. It looks like a horror film to me. Moreover, I have never heard of this place. I visualized this basement to be a room with intricate locks. This is more intricate than that”told Mr. Karl. Franklin and Mr. Karl took slow and steady steps. They didn't want to create even a decibel of sound. They were able to hear their own heart thudded like a thunder in the silence. “Mr. Karl, I think it ends here”Franklin told and as he could utter the next word, his eyes were glued to a human skull which had two candles lit in the void of its eyes. “I cannot believe this" told Mr. Karl with a horrified face. Franklin was stunned to see the visuals. He was not able to hear Mr. Karl speaking. After a couple of minutes, Franklin came to reality. He took his eyes off that skull and noticed yet more skulls placed in a zig zag manner. “There is something written on this wall", Franklin said as he gulped. Mr. Karl brought the candles close to the wordings. “Mystikistis Mátia"read Franklin. “What language is this Mr. Karl?” “I'm not so sure, but I can figure out that this should be an ancient language.” “What's the native of the father?” “Son, this is nothing related to the father. This is something else, something big. I think it's time for us to leave this place. Don't ask any more questions and keep walking silently”ordered Mr. Karl.
Franklin was puzzled by the way Mr. Karl behaved. They both didn't utter a word after coming outside the corridor. Franklin was unable to sleep that night. He was constantly staring at his ceiling and suddenly he had the visuals of the skulls. He set off to the home to meet Mr. Karl at the day break. “Mr. Karl? How are you now?” asked Franklin. “I am fine son. What's wrong?”asked Mr. Karl with a smile. “How could you pretend that everything is normal?” he asked  with his eyebrows raised. “I know it's hard son. But atleast, pretend to be normal in front of everyone. I hate to be here.” “Mr. Karl, you know something about the skulls and other things, don't you?”asked Franklin.
“Hey young man. It's a coincidence to meet you again"said a voice. Franklin turned to see the man behind the voice. “Mr. Davis.!”said Franklin with a wide smile on his face. “Are you regular to this place?” asked Mr. Davis. “As I told you yesterday, I was brought up here. Mr. Karl was our janitor back then.” “Our?” asked Mr. Davis as he took a seat opposite to Franklin. “Yeah, me and my two brothers. We were triplets.” Told Franklin. “That's great! Where are your other two brothers ?”he asked. “Unfortunately, the middle one Adian is dead. He was dead in this home when he was 12. Some people say that it was a natural death and some others tell that he was killed. But, deep inside we both knew that he was killed. He didn't have any problems. He was hale and healthy. The death of Adian, made my elder brother Michael to elope. I haven't seen him after that”told Franklin with his eyes moist. “I am so sorry gentleman. I shouldn't have asked anything. I know how terrible it is for you now. If you need anything, I am always here to help you out. You can trust me.”told Mr. Davis as he patted his shoulders. “Sure Mr. Davis. That's so kind of you. Thank you so much, sir”,smiled Franklin. “I'll take a leave then. Take care"he told and he walked away. “You shouldn't have told your perspective son”told Mr. Karl. “He is a nice man sir. We even had a chit chat yesterday”told Franklin. “I don't know son. Don't make things complicated for us"told Mr. Karl. Mr. Davis happened to hear the conversation they both had after he left. His wife saw him and started to walk towards him. “So, it's him right?”she asked with a wicked smile. “You are such a genius mi àmor" he told as he kissed her forehead.
