I'm running through the streaming rain to the next shop. It's the 24th of December and I'm last minute present shopping. I'm a person who never ever does things on time and at the moment I really despise myself for it. I enter a cooking shop to buy some things for my mom. She has her own company where she cooks for people who either can't afford to cook for themselves or are in some kind of special need for it. You can sign up on her website for any evening Monday to Friday. Usually she ends up cooking for at least 5 different people in the small town where we live. Everyone loves her for it, she never asks for money but people usually give her whatever they can miss. Local supermarkets and restaurants donate most of their leftovers to her, that's the main reason she is still able to afford giving the food out for free.
Because she got in an accident 3 years ago she can't really do extreme physical work but cooking is something she has always loved doing. Whenever her body hurts too much my dad tries to help her as best as he can by cutting vegetables or stirring the pan. I end up buying her a new soup pan because she's been complaining about hers for a long time already. When I get out of the shop the rain has turned into snow and I am met by an icy december breeze. It's really cold so I dive a little deeper in my coat and start walking to my car.
When I'm about to get in I see a guy running through the parking lot with a few shopping bags in his hand. He is being chased by a group of at least 50 girls. I laugh quietly to myself at the scene unfolding in front of me, never in my life had I thought I would witness something as utterly ridiculous as this. I fight the urge to pinch myself and check if I am not in fact dreaming. The guy seems to be a lot faster than most girls but he has the hardest time trying to shake them off.
When he is about 40 meters away from me I suddenly realize I know this guy. I take a second look to confirm it but it really is him. It's Louis Tomlinson, world's best football player and also the hottest person alive right now. Am I really not dreaming? I do understand now why he is being chased though: girls love him, besides his looks because he's one of the only openly gay football players out there right now.
When he's within earshot I do something that I didn't even think of doing, "Get in the car!" I yell at him. The words leaving my mouth surprise me, but my actions seem like I know what I am doing. I swing open the door on the passenger side and hop behind the wheel myself. I don't even know what I'm doing and in all honesty expected him to completely ignore me but he makes a sharp turn and comes running in my direction, his sneakers pounding on the wet asphalt.
Before I realize what's happening he jumps in my car and closes the door behind him. "oh, thank god." he manages to say since he's totally out of breath. I let out a short laugh and lock the doors right before the first girls arrive by our side. While I wait for him to catch his breath I offer him a bottle of water that has been laying in my car for ages. He gladly accepts it though and takes some big sips before he starts talking again, "I didn't really believe you would seriously help me with this." He says, his breathing regular again. He really is in amazing physical shape.
"We've gotta look out for each other." I chuckle, not knowing what the we really is referring to. The group of girls still hasn't left and is surrounding the car, taking pictures and slamming their gloved hands against the windows.
"You need to leave" Louis says, "before they destroy your car." I laugh and raise my eyebrows at what he says. "how do you even keep up with them?"
"I love them you know, but some of them are just a little.. over dedicated?" He gives me a wide smile. I nod slowly and then let out a laugh again, "That's a great understatement." Now it's his turn to laugh.
"Alright let's go then, do I have to drop you of somewhere or how were you supposed to leave this place?" He explains to me that he was supposed to get picked up by his driver but that he got stuck in traffic so that he doesn't really have a ride home. Luckily for him I am not supposed to go to my parents until the next morning so I offer him a ride to whatever destination he desires, dismissing the fact that he just casually mentioned he has a private driver. What a life.
