JJ tightened his grip around her waist slightly as his eyes fluttered open. The rooster outside was going off and he was surprised it hadn't woken the girl up yet.
He observed her face and smiled at how calm she looked as she slept. She didn't have her usual cheeky grin on her face or her playful smirk, she just looked peaceful.
JJ unwrapped one of his arms carefully and brought it up to her face to push a stray hair behind her ear that had fallen over her face.
The girl moved slightly and then her eyes opened carefully and she felt her body warm up with happiness as she stared into JJs blue eyes. They reminded her of the ocean.
"Morning beautiful" he mumbles and places a kiss on her forehead
"Morning" she mumbles and then closes her eyes again and let's out a yawn and then snuggles further into his chest but her eyes and then he lifted her on top of his body and sat up so she was straddling him
"How are you this morning" she asks and runs her fingers through his hair but stopped when she noticed the police car out the front through the window "shit JJ look" she whispers
The boy turned his body to look out the window and his eyes shit open in worry and the girl got off his lap and all she was wearing was one of JJs shirts and a pair of shorts
"Kirra wait" he whispers but she slowly opened the door and saw the sheriff talking to John B and she made eye contact with the boy and he shook his head quickly to tell her not to come out and then he motioned for her and JJ to leave through their window.
Kirra hesitantly nodded her head, she didn't want to leave the boy but she knew how much trouble each of them could get in for being there especially JJ after pulling a gun out last night and pointing it at toppers head.
She quietly shut the bedroom door and pulled JJ out of the bed
"We gotta leave. It's the sheriff" she mumbles and quickly gets changed into some of her clothes not caring if the boy saw her and then the two snuck out of the window
"I heard there was a fight on the beach yesterday" the sheriff states as she walks closer to John b and places down a blunt that she had picked up off his table "and a gun was involved"
"Okay. A gun?" John B asks and pretends to have no idea what the cop was talking about. He was hoping that the two had made it out of the house. It would not be good if they got caught "no way"
John B pats the sheriff on the shoulder and then walks to the other side of the room "did I get in a dust up yes. But was there a gun. No. No way"
"That's okay I know who it was. I'll get to that and I know why he did it. Guess some people can get a little over protective" the sheriff states "all I'm worried about right now is making sure that you are in a safe home"
John B scoffs and then looks around him at his house "yeah it's super safe. Super sound and sturdy. You know" he says and then taps on a table next to him "you know what I mean. And uncle t is coming back so..."
"Is that what he told you" the sheriff asks
JJ and Kirra run outside and look through the window and notice John B and the sheriff still talking and they decide to go and get Kie and pope
They walk outside the wreck hand in hand and Kie and Pope both come out
"Ready to go guys" Kirra asks and JJ swings their hands slightly
"Yeah let's go" they say. Neither of the two looked at the pair for more than a second and it wasn't hard to guess that they were still thinking about last night. JJ had pulled the gun and when they got mad at JJ Kirra got mad at them. Kie knew that even though she was best friends with Kirra, if it really came down to choosing. Kirra would choose JJ over any of them, even her. And Kie knew that JJ would choose Kirra over anyone as well. Kie admired the love that the two had for them but she worried for them because if one went down then the other would go straight down with them without a second thought. It was dangerous but everyone knew that their was nothing that was going to change that.
"Let's go" Kirra mumbles and they all walk back to John Bs place
JJ was throwing rocks out in the ocean while Kie, Pope and John B sat on chairs around the table and Kirra sat on the railing on the balcony outside John Bs house.
"Look I'm calling it off alright" John B says and JJ and Kirra look over at him in shock "peterkin said that if I stay out of the marsh than she wold help me with the DCS"
"And you believed her" JJ asks in shock and frustration
"Yes I believed her JJ" John B states
"She a cop John B" Kirra said and looked over at the boy and then JJ nodded his head and pointed at his girlfriend
"An actual cop John B. You believed a cop" JJ states and throws another rock harshly
"All I gotta do is stay outer the marsh for a few days and she'll help me out" John B says and then glares at JJ "it doesn't help that your ass was shooting a gun"
"They always say there gonna help you out and then they do nothing okay. Nothing John B. They don't care about kids like us" Kirra says angrily, thinking back to the times when cops said they would help her but never actually did anything
"You know what I should have done man. I should have let topper drown your ass" JJ says angrily
"Yeah because Topper was gonna drown me" John B said sarcastically
"Sure looked like it" JJ states
"He was holding your head under the fucking water John B. You were getting drowned" Kirra said angrily as the boy continued to accuse JJ
"That's funny" John B states
"I mean have you looked in the mirror recently" JJ says and walks over to John B
"Come on tell me some more come on" John B states
"They always win don't they man?" JJ says angrily "kooks versus pogues. They always always win" JJ punches a coconut that was hanging off John Bs porch and storms off angrily and Kirra stayed still knowing that it was best to let him cool down for the moment
"It's okay J" Kirra says to him quietly
"No it isn't okay baby girl. It is not. They don't want us to go down into the marsh. That means that there is something valuable down there and you know it" JJ says and looks over at his girlfriend with pleading eyes and she nodded her head instantly
"I know JJ I know. I'm with you on this" she says and he smiles at her
"We don't know that" John B says and looks at JJ in anger
"Yes we do. I know you do. And I understand why you don't want to go" JJ says and points at pope "you're the golden boy and you got way too much to risk" he then looks down at Kie "and you. I mean well you're already rich as fuck anyways. Why would you bother" then he looks between John B and Kirra "but you, Kirra and me man. We got nothing to lose. We really don't alright"
"Really. Last time I checked your girlfriend was a kook too" Kie says feeling offended that the boy had only gone off on her and not Kirra too
"When was the last time you saw her getting any of it huh. Her dads a fucking dick head and doesn't give shit to her. She wears torn fucking clothes and sleeps at John Bs" JJ yells angrily and Kirra just keeps quiet. She didn't know what to say and Kie looked down in embarrassment and then at her best friend in sympathy
"I'm sorry kirra" Kie mumbles
"That's alright don't even worry about it" she says and tries to put a smile on her face but it doesn't work. Her dad didn't give anything to her except pain, bruises and cuts. She was working two jobs at the moment
"Look man. I know it didn't used to be that way for you" JJ says and looks over at John B
"I don't want to talk about it. I don't want to talk about this" John B says
"So that's it" JJ asks and then John B shoved him out of the way
"Just get out of my way bro" John B says angrily
"John B listen to me. I have a plan" JJ says and the group on the deck all looked at each other with a knowing look. They knew that it was extremely rare for one of JJs plans to actually end well
