I glanced at the time and groaned internally while packing the rest of the sandwiches into the basket. "Link! Did you get Ida ready?" I called, cursing softly after realizing I forgot the drinks. "No, She's being difficult." He answered. I rolled my eyes and dragged the heavy cases of soda and water out of the fridge. "Just get the others up! I wanna get photos before it rains!" There was no answer so I just focused on packing the right amount of water and the correct sodas into the basket, pausing to grab the bottle of baby milk I finished making. I made my way upstairs, eye twitching slightly at the sight of literally everyone still asleep.
"Link!" I shouted, watching him flail for a moment before standing up. I sighed and walked over to fix him up. "You're a mess again honey. Go fix your outfit again." He walked off and I went into my children's room. "Hanna, Ivan, get up and get ready for the picnic." I sighed, gently knocking on the door. I continued knocking on their door in an obnoxious way until they finally got up. I then went into my baby girls room, reaching into the crib and picking her up. "Hey baby." I cooed, watching her open her eyes and fuss for a moment before relaxing. "Let's get you ready for the picnic."
It took about 30 minutes in total to get everyone up and ready and in the car. I started the van and we began to make our way to the park. "Did we forget anything or anyone?" I asked Link, ignoring Hanna and Ivan bickering in the back. Link was silent for a moment before shaking his head. "I don't think so." I thought for a minute myself before finally relaxing. Trying to get everyone up in time for something is always a struggle. They always want to sleep, just like their father.
Hanna started screeching upon seeing the park and its playground. I flinched but smiled. I love when the kids get excited about something. I parked and helped Hanna get out, trying to keep Ivan from running off into the street while Link took his time getting out. When Link finally helped keep Ivan in check along with Hanna, I started unpacking the blanket and the basket. Setting the blanket up, I noticed the random bubble maker in the way back from our last picnic. I checked to make sure it wasn't dead before placing it in the middle of the blanket, adding the bubbles and turning it on. Like bees to flowers, Hanna and Ivan came racing back to the blanket and started playing around with the bubbles. I sat down with Ida and played with her for a bit.
Link wrapped his arms around my waist and I smiled softly, leaning up to gently kiss him. "Hey." I whispered. "Hey." He whispered back before kissing me. Ivan started pretending to gag and whined at us. "Stop kissing! You're getting cooties!" I pulled away and chuckled softly, shaking my head as Link started chasing the other two around. I gazed at Ida and listened to their happy laughter, remembering what we had to do to get here and feeling even happier about my future.
