I woke up with a stiff neck. Backpacks are not the best pillows. Nico was already up and he was playing with some kind of ring on his finger. The ring would flash a few times every 2 minuets. I wonder why. I sat up and realized that during the night Nico must've put his jacket over me. It was pretty small, but it covered enough of my body so I wasn't shivering while I slept. I handed the jacket back to him.

"You drool when you sleep by the way, and there better not be any spit on my jacket."

It sounded like he was joking but his dead serious facial expression said otherwise.

"Yea haha sorry about that. You could've kept your jacket though, I'm sure you were cold as well. I could've found a way to keep warm myself." I said.

He looked at me and for a split second, his face fell calm like he was looking a cute puppy. within moments he positioned his famous scowl back on his face. "No, it's fine." He said. "I'm not really affected by the cold anyway. And besides as long as you're okay, I'm okay. I'd rather you be comfortable, than me." He looked away but I kept my eyes on him. almost just for a second, it seemed like Nico cared about me. "We better get moving, the longer we wait, the less chances we have at getting them back to camp alive." He said.

Nico was right. We needed to leave so that we could find the demigods, especially if one of them was young. Poor baby, he or she must be so scared. Don't worry little one, we're coming for you.

I pulled the compass out my pocket and strung my back pack onto my back. Nico put his hand out, awaiting the compass. I pressed it into his palm and for a brief moment, our fingers brushed. Time slowed for a second and I caught Nicos eyes. He tensed and looked away, before taking the compass and running up ahead. Out of the alley way. He stopped just before the alley broke out into the street.

"Here." He handed me his MP3 player and his headphones. "I saw you staring at it when we were on the subway, figured you might want to give it try. There's a few preprogrammed playlists that Leo downloaded, and there's one he made specifically for me. Unfortunately you can't search any songs because, you know, that would attract monsters. But, it's still pretty good." He said. "And hopefully it will keep you out of my hair" he mumbled.

"Hey! I'm not that annoying! ... am I?"

Nico gave me a glance that I couldn't quite decipher. He turned his back to me and became walking up the street. I slipped the headphones on and pressed shuffle on a playlist labeled 'jams'. Whatever that meant, I was hoping some good songs that I knew would play. 'Amnesia - 5sos' started playing. I loved this song. I glanced ahead and caught nicos all black clothing up ahead. I watched him dodge through people as the music started blasting in my ears.

"I drove by all the places you used to hang out getting wasted. I thought about our last kiss, how it felt, the way you tasted-."

Nico dodged through a group of kids our age who looked like they were on their way to school.

"I wish that I could wake up with amnesia, and forget about the stupid little things, like the way it felt to fall sleep next to you-."

Nico side stepped through an elderly couple with walkers.

"- if today I woke up with you right beside me. Like all of this was just some twisted dream. I'd hold you closer then I ever did before-."

Nico picked up his pace, almost like he was walking to the rhythm of the song
