"Okay? Why did we agree to come here again?" Jay asks as the ninja finished up setting the tent up. It was the middle of a spring day in the sea of sand and the ninja had been asked to help with a dig of a entire city that was unearthed during a sandstorm. "I agree with Jay we've seen enough ancient buildings and this whole place gives me the creeps," Kai said shuddering slightly as he looked the place over. What might have once been a grand city had decayed over time with buildings caves in on themselves and fallen pillars everywhere.

"Because this is believed to be the city slash burial ground of the richest and cruelest Pharaoh in Ninjago legend. Pharaoh Imhotep," Zane explained as he read from a book a archeologists had given him. "Do we really want to wake up another ancient evil?" Cole asks. "We won't wake up anything how often has that actually happened?" Lloyd asks. "Great devour," Cole answers. "Serpentine kinda," Jay adds. "Does Garmadon and the overlord count?" Zane asks. "Aspheera," Kai answers. "Nadakhan," Nya adds under her breath that Jay heard. "Okay it's happened a lot, but it won't happen this time," Lloyd said. "You want to bet on that?" Kai asks dryly. "Nah I don't want to loose any money," Cole said.

One of the archeologists Clutch Powers after he recovered from Aspheera incident came over to the ninja. "Okay we're entering under the palace tomorrow morning so you all need to be well rested," Clutch advises. "Question what was this Imhotep like?" Nya asks. Clutch thought for a moment. "Pretty much heartless with a giant ego and greed problem. Standard villain for you guys," Clutch explains and the ninja all voiced their agreements on that. "Anyway legend says he was going to invade all of Ninjago and he had the army to do it. If he tried and the stories on his military are accurate it would have taken a month or two at most to do it," Clutch recalls. "Then why didn't he?" Zane asks. "The night before he sent his army off his queen disappeared and he called it off in fear of his queen being killed in the crossfire. Legend says he will always be searching for his queen the only one he ever actually cared for," Clutch explains. "Sounds like obsessed boyfriend," Jay comments.

"Yeah anyway we'll be uncovering the tome tomorrow, so good luck and good sleeping," Clutch said leaving the ninja to sleep. "He's right we better get to sleeping," Lloyd said. "Okay," The ninja all agree and all went to sleep.

In the middle of the night

Lloyd woke up and looked around. He saw each of the ninja in their sleeping bags except. "Kai?" Lloyd whispers not seeing the ninja in red anywhere. Lloyd saw the tent flap open and got up to go search for Kai. He looked around the dusty streets and shivers at the cold. "Kai where are you?" Lloyd calls out. He follows the footsteps in the sand and turned the corner before he saw Kai. He was standing in the middle of a street that was mostly collapsed buildings. He was on the street and was just standing. Lloyd walked closer and saw Kai's eyes were closed and he seemed to be sleeping. "Kai?" Lloyd asks walking closer to him and touched his shoulder. Kai didn't even flinch. "Kai?" Lloyd tries again shaking Kai until he opened his eyes. Kai stumbles back and Lloyd held him up. "Lloyd? What's going on? Where are we?" Kai asks confusion clear as he looked around.

"I found you out here. I think you were sleep walking," Lloyd admits. Kai was confused and his eyes focused on a spot in the middle of the road. "I was dreaming I saw two people die," Kai admits. "Who were the people?" Lloyd asks concerned. "I...don't know, but I felt sad," Kai admits. "Well it's over now let's get back to the tent," Lloyd said pulling Kai along. "Yeah," Kai said following Lloyd along and back into the tent with the others.

"It's him now I hope these mortals awaken me" a dark voice whispers in the shadows.
