Lloyd was waiting in the dining room for Kai to show up early like he said he would. As he waited anxiously tapping his fingers against the gold table the others and Clutch all came barreling in out of breath. "Lloyd! Where's Kai?" Zane asks quickly. Lloyd pauses before he got up and said. "I don't know he was supposed to be here," Lloyd said. "Kai looks just like the pharaoh's queen and if we know anything Kai and possibly everyone in Ninjago is in danger," Clutch said. Lloyd feels himself pale before he heard a voice behind him.
"My dessert blossom isn't in any danger,"
Everyone looked at the source and saw the pharaoh had magically appeared at the head of the table. "Where is my brother?" Nya growls. "That is none of your concern girl and you all are no longer welcomed. Guards get them out of my sight I need to go keep my blossom company," Imhotep said with a cruel smile as the guards appeared. "If you dare lay a hand on him," Lloyd growls. "You will not growl at me boy. And I will do much more than that," Imhotep said. Lloyd lights his fists in green energy and the others follow the example lighting up their elements while Clutch just looks around confused and scared. "We will ask one more time where is Kai?" Lloyd said venom dripping from his voice. "Kill them," Imhotep answers and the guards moved forward. The ninja used spinjitzu and took out the guards. "Run!" Lloyd orders and they booked it. "After them! Don't let them find the queen!" Imhotep orders.
The ninja ran through the halls unsure of where to go. "Where would they keep Kai?" Cole asks. "The pharaoh's chambers are the best guest. It was where the original was," Clutch answers. "Than lets go," Lloyd ran the way he assumes was the Pharaoh's chambers. Soon they got to a corner and saw two badly burned guards stationed outside the door. Clearly Kai put up a fight. "Okay we don't have much time let's just take them out and rescue Kai," Lloyd said. "How do we even know for sure he is in there?" Jay asks.
"YOU DECAYING CORPES I'M GONNA BURN YOU TOO A CRISP IF YOU DON'T STOP MGPH!" Kai's voice screams before it was silenced. "Yep he's definitely in there," Jay sighs as the others crack a smile. "One two three!" Lloyd charges with the others. They used spinjitzu and easily took them out then Cole broke the doors off it's hinges. Inside some undead guards were painting Kai's skin with gold and black paint and Kai was wearing a short Egyptian skirt, a gold necklace, amber earrings, and gold bejewelled bracelets with a rag in his mouth. He was tightly chained to the vanity chair and from the looks of it he tried biting most of the servants. The guards quickly reacted and tried taking out the ninja, but were quickly stopped by the ninja. Nya got to her brother and untied his gag, but when she tried taking off the chains they burned her and she retracted them.
"Ow those chains are hot," Nya said. "They're absorbing my powers so I can't use them. That guy is crazy," Kai said. "He wants you to be his queen also you look ridiculous," Jay said. Kai glares at Jay. "I know that why do you think I tried biting those stupid servants until they gagged me? And he made it clear as to what he wants with me," Kai seems to shudder. "How do we get the chains off?" Lloyd asks. "Only Imhotep can get them off and he is not planning to do that until he binds our souls tomorrow," Kai answers. The others exchange glances. "We are not leaving you with him okay were going to get you out of this," Lloyd said. Kai gives a weak smile, but he clearly does not believe it.
"And how are you doing that?" a voice said and everyone saw Imhotep at the door with too many undead servants and guards to count. Imhotep looked at Kai and smiles with a malicious glee. "You look perfect my queen," Imhotep said. "Go kiss a slug," Kai spat struggling in his chains again. "Such a attitude we will need to change that. I didn't break you enough before, but I will this time," Imhotep said. Lloyd lit his hands with green energy and so do the others with their elements. "You will not win. I can just keep summoning more guards till I have you all mummified alive," Imhotep said. The ninja looked at each other because the odds were not looking good. "Hey green ninja I got a idea, but you need to answer this truthfully," Clutch whispers and Lloyd looked at him. "What is it?" Lloyd asks. "Do you love the red ninja? Like love love?" Clutch asks and Lloyd blushes, but nodded. "Great," Clutch walked forward and said. "Lloyd Garmadon challenges you to a trial by Hathor!" Clutch said and Imhotep's eyes widen while everyone else looks confused. "Umm what?" Lloyd asks. "You cannot believe this puny mortal can win these games do you?" Imhotep asks. "Win what? What are the trials by Hathor?" Jay asks. "If you challenge a Pharaoh to trial by Hathor you would be competing for the queen in this case Kai. If Imhotep looses he should return to his coffin and Lloyd wins Kai," Clutch explains. "And if Imhotep wins?" Kai asks. "You become his forever while we get mummified alive," Clutch said. That was a option no one liked. Lloyd looked at Kai who was looking at his lap and his body painted and on display for Imhotep. He was clearly scared, but was trying his hardest not to show it.
"I do challenge you to these trials," Lloyd said surprising Imhotep who just growls. "Fine we will begin them in the morning," Imhotep snapped his fingers and Kai disapears. "Where did he go?!" Nya asks panicked. "Calm yourself girl. Until sunrise when the trials start he will be fine. No one will see him till sunrise," Imhotep said. He turns around and said. "Have a nice night if you want to back out of the trials I will be preparing the honeymoon room for my queen," Imhotep laughs leaving the ninja. Lloyd clenches his fists. "Okay what are these trials about?" Lloyd asks. "Well I'm not entirely sure because it has only been challenged a few times, but there are five trials. The trial of speed, the trial of bravery, the trial of intelligence, the trial of justice, and the trial of truth. Whoever wins the trials wins Kai," Clutch explains.
Lloyd nodded along. "And what happens in these trials? And who is the judge?" Lloyd asks. "I do not really know what happens in them, but the judge was said to be the goddess of love Hathor," Clutch explains. Lloyd sighs. "The best we can do to prepare is to get some sleep for the trials tomorrow," Lloyd said. Everyone nodded to that and found a place in the room to sleep in the room, but nobody really got a good sleep.
Next morning
A loud gong was rung and everyone woke up in surprise and grogginess. "Come on if we want Kai safe we need to go," Lloyd said getting up. They all got to the front of the palace and saw a empty paliquin. Imhotep was standing to the side and Kai was no where to be seen. "Where's Kai?" Lloyd growls. "Wait a moment boy," Imhotep growls. He looked to the horizon and people followed his line of vision to see the sun beginning to rise. Kai appears a moment later and was wearing the same stuff as before, but it looked like his makeup had been wiped off his off his body and he had licked a lot around his face. Kai were you licking the makeup?" Lloyd asks deadpanned. Kai shrugs. "It tastes like chocolate icing," Kai argues. "Really?" Cole attempted to walk over, but Zane pulled him back with a shake of his head.
"By the goddess of love and beauty do we plead. May she grant us her presence for these trials to prove who my dessert blossom belongs too," Imhotep said as the sun hit a clear jewel with gold highlighting and a black underbelly. When the sun had completely touched it the jewel turns a light red. A blinding flash later and the goddess Hathor appears herself. She yawns and stretches. "Okay who's fighting over who?" She asks.

"We are competing for the love of my soon to be queen," Imhotep said gesturing to Kai. Hathor looks at Kai then picked him up and plops him in a seat right next to her on the palquin. "Okay let's get this show on the road I got to meet up with Iris before sunrise tomorrow or she is going to flip," Hathor said.
Imhotep and Lloyd locked eyes one filled with cocky confidence and the other field with determination and fear.
