Two days later and Luke was still upset with me for talking to someone. I guess to him it's not really just "someone", it's Michael. He might as well be the devil to Luke. Either way, Luke was being dry with me. One-worded texts, one-worded replies, and he won't even try to talk to me first, I have to ask him something just to get a word out of him. It was beyond frustrating and I couldn't take it anymore.
At lunch, he wouldn't even talk to me at all, only Calum and Ashton. It was the quietest lunch I have ever experienced and I was done. I finished eating, grabbed my bag, and left the cafeteria without a word. I went to my locker to exchange my binders and do a quick mirror check just to get away from Luke and his cold heart.
When I was fixing my mascara I saw Michael in my reflection, leaning up against a locker and talking to a few friends. I turned to look at him. He looked away from his buddy, his smirk in place. He continued to stare at me and just as I was about to spin back to my locker, he winked at me. At least I think so, it looked like a wink. But before I could check to see if he was still staring, he was walking away. I shrugged and decided to trudge up to science class to wait for Calum to come.
As usual, nothing interesting happened in science. Michael wasn't there, our teacher was acting like a lunatic, and we finished all our textbook work in 30 minutes so Calum, Ashton, and I were free to talk as usual. We were talking about nonsense before I decided to confront the two of them.
"Is Luke really that mad at me?" I groaned, throwing my head back.
"Well he's upset, I wouldn't say angry." Calum said softly.
"But all I did was say a few words to Michael." I reasoned, leaning forward on my desk.
"You're like his younger sister, and in his eyes, he doesn't really want you talking to anyone. I'm surprised that Calum and I are allowed to talk to you." Ashton joked, attempting to lighten my mood.
"He still won't talk to me, I don't know what to do." I muttered. Neither of them replied. "What am I supposed to do in math next period? He's the only person I talk to, let alone know in that class!"
"You can make new friends." Calum smiled, I shot him a look and his smile faded.
"I think I might just skip. When he's over his mood swings he can tutor me on what I missed." I said, putting my head in my hands so my voice became muffled.
"If that's what you really want to do, then okay." Ashton reassured as the bell rang. "Good luck!" And they were both gone. I guess I will skip.
I waited until the halls had cleared after the second bell. Then I set off down the corridor towards the stairwell closest to my locker. I opened the door and began to descend the stairs. When I turned the corner, a large figure jumped out at me and screamed. Startled, I jumped back and covered my mouth to keep myself from screaming. Michael leaned against the wall and grinned at my reaction.
"Michael, what are you doing?" I scolded, giving him a frustrated look.
"I could ask you the same thing, Ellie." He said in a conceited way.
"I told you not to call me that and I'm leaving, what does it look like?" I asked coldly. "How did you even know I was leaving?"
"The post-hardcore eventually end up skipping class." He joked, his smug tone still evident in his voice. I rolled my eyes and continued down the staircase. "Do you have a plan?" He asked.
"For what?" I questioned, looking over my shoulder at him as he followed me down.
"For ditching class. You can't just ditch and go home, that's so lame." He said, passing me on the stairs as he took two at a time with his long legs.
