It was easy to think Bruce didn't do as rationally as before, that he would act our of emotion instead of thinking any of it through... Acting on pure impulse, or aggression. That's why the new speedster was given the name Impulse out of the blue.
There may have been a plan against plan, he may have been knocked down... Bruises, blood on his face but he kept distracting and soon punching.
