Hey Pretties,
Does social media cause insecurity? I want to know what you all think.
I've been thinking about this topic and I wanted to express with y'all.
In my opinion, social media is a platform that millions use everyday. It can inspire and influence us, it is also a platform people use to express themselves.
However, people can use social media with good or bad intentions. But we are all using social media for the same thing🤷🏾♀️
People can use social media to influence others, express themselves, post their lifestyle, inspire others, and bully others too! (And I don't mean spam accounts or bots because those aren't real people🙄)
Social media is it's own WORLD, it's not technically real. I don't care if you make the most money, have the most followers, are rich and wear expensive jewelry. It is NOT real. We are ALL human beings, we all bleed the same. (Despite the bots, honey!)
I believed God created us individually and wonderfully, we are not suppose to be perfect. We'll never be perfect.
I'll never get to exactly look like that hour glass figure I've been admiring.
Guess, what that's okay, I can't kill myself over that. I can only continue to love myself and my flaws from there on. That's the honest truth. I'm not seeking anyone's approval from this world any more especially on social media.
I feel like social media has created this place of perfectionism. It's like you are not accepted unless you're doing what others are doing.
I sometimes log on Instagram and get quickly bored, when I see others doing the same thing, influencers and celebrities to be exact' no offense to anyone. Modeling brand clothing, wearing full coverage makeup, buying expensive cars, etc.
People can get really insecure from that, especially when you see someone doing something that causes you to wonder why you're not doing the same thing.
It's almost like peer pressure from the internet🥴
I feel like social media has impacted us in many ways. Some of us use social media for work, run a business and even school.
So it's hard for someone to say, "Just stop using social media." Although, you can and just find another alternative. It isn't always that easy.
I've came to a conclusion that social media will ALWAYS be here, PERIOD!
You know what babes? It's okay to feel that way on social media because you're not the only one. Social media is just a preference you can decide to use it or not.
You are even free to "unfollow" anyone who makes you feel insecure, make you feel like you're in competition. The only competition you're supposed to be in is with yourself.
A social media detox is something people NEED to talk more about, I've been logging out more often, limiting my phone time usage, and deleting my social media apps for a refresh✌🏾
Girlllllll, lemme tell you it has been GREAT, I'm still living. If I can do it you can too😌💅🏾
Lately the media has been filled with SO MUCH negativity, that can cause depression and anxiety. It's overwhelming in times we are in today regarding the pandemic, police brutality, money issues and racism.
The media causes people to get drawn away from reality, into this smokescreen. To the point we aren't aware of our current situation and environment.
It's almost like an escaping mechanism from reality, sadly it distracts us from our everyday life😕
It's crazy how people can get so caught up into something that we forget about things at times👀
Sometimes we pretend to be things we are not to impress others.
It's social media no one knows our lives, no one knows what we go through behind the screen. If we're not friends or family, you don't know how I feel about certain things.
If you're still with me, thank you babes for reading my rant😂💕
I might start a Girl Talk series: comment on what topics I should talk about next✨
Have a safe and wonderful day!😘
