Once my hair was pinned up, make-up was on and I looked presentable, I left my room. The entire time walking to the dining room, I couldn't stop thinking that I hadn't got to see Mark's face. I wonder what color his eyes are, hmm, maybe a nice brown or a sky blue.

Wrapped up in my thoughts I didn't realize I was already in the dining room till it was too late.

"Ah, here she is, and you thought she was going to be late and disrespect our A... guest" Frank tisked at Lidia

"What can I say? Sometimes I'm wrong, it won't happen again." She smiled sweetly at Frank as he and the man standing next to him, laughed.

"Evalyn, honey, come meet my...uh...boss and close friend, Anthony. He's also Mark's dad."

"Nice to meet you sir," I didn't want to be rude on my first day and step on any more toes than I already had, so I smiled and stuck my hand out to shake his hand. At this the room stiffened, no one dared to breathe. I felt as if I was the only one playing without a rule book. I looked around to see them all giving me looks ranging from shock to disgust. The disgust being on Lidia's ugly face, if it hadn't been for the tense silence I would have stuck my tongue out at her, childish, I know, but that lady gets under my skin. I turned to look back at Anthony and slowly started to retract my hand. At this he let out a loud laugh and picked me up in a bear hug. Gasps rang out across the room along with what sounded like a low growl. My head snapped to the sound and my eyes connected to Mark's. His eyes looked as if they were molten jade, moving; turning; shifting. I've never seen anything like it. They were beautiful.

Something akin to pain crossed his features before he got up and walked way. My heart broke as he walked out the door, but no one noticed either as Anthony set me back on the ground, small smile still on his face.

"Frank, if it does happen, yes, if not, I still approve. Something tells me she's too important to not let her. As for dinner, I am sincerely sorry Lidia, but I now have something to take care of, if you'll excuse me, and I hope to see you all in a weeks' time at the annual party, farewell."

Lidia gasped as Frank looked distressed and Lucas cheered. Once again, I feel as if I missed something big.

"Suddenly I'm not hungry, goodnight."

"Lidia wait, we need to talk." Frank walked out after the blonde.

"So, will you be a nice step brother and tell me what's going on?..."
