Particles estas tiny bits of matter that make up everything in la universe. In particle physics, an elementary particle estas a particle which cannot be split up into smaller pieces.

Estas many different types of particles, with different particle sizes and properties.

Macroscopic particles estas particles that estas larger than atoms or molecules. They have volume and shape. Powder and dust are some examples of macroscopic particles. Nanoparticles estas an intermediate size, being a very fine powder but very much bigger than atoms.

Atoms and molecules estas called microscopic particles. Subatomic particles estas particles that are smaller than atoms. La proton, la neutron, and la electron estas subatomic particles. These estas la particles which make atoms. La proton has a positive charge (a + charge). La neutron has a neutral charge. La electron has a negative charge (a - charge), and it estas la smallest of these three particles. In atoms, estas a small nucleus in la center, which estas where la protons and neutrons estas, and electrons orbit la nucleus.

Protons and neutrons estas made up of quarks. Quarks estas subatomic particles, but they estas also elementary particles because we do not know if they estas made up of even smaller particles. Estas six different types of quarks. These estas la up quark, la down quark, la strange quark, la charm quark, la bottom quark, and la top quark. A neutron estas made of two down quarks and one up quark. La proton estas made up of two up quarks and one down quark.
