As soon as they arrived at the quidditch pitch, James was taken into the changing room by his teammates and Sirius, Remus and Peter were left to climb the stairs up to the stands.
It was very cold sat on top of the stands, waiting for the team to emerge. It took them ten minutes to come out. Meanwhile, Sirius, Remus and Peter discussed what they would do next full moon. And finally, the Gryffindor team had appeared on the pitch.
They practiced for about fifty minutes before heading in as Gryffindor and Hufflepuff students began entering the stands to get the best view of the match along with the Hufflepuff quidditch team, who went into the changing room to discuss their game plan. Five minutes later, the teachers, the rest of Gryffindor and Hufflepuff and Slytherin and Ravenclaw entered the stands.
It was exactly eleven o'clock when the Gryffindor and Hufflepuff teams came out onto the pitch, along with Madam Hooch who was going to start the match. The four boys watched as she opened the case in which the balls used in quidditch were scored and let them all loose into the pitch then letting both teams fly upwards into their positions. The only person Sirius, Remus and Peter were intent on watching was James weaving around other chasers trying to get the quafe
The match ended in under half an hour, Gryffindor had caught the snitch - and thank goodness he had - the Hufflepuff team had surpassed the Gryffindors on a score of 120 - 90 just before James had caught the snitch.***
"Great job out there, Prongs!" Sirius called to his best friend as James came out of the changing room.
"Thanks Padfoot." Said James, smiling. "Was Lily Evans watching?"
Sirius shrugged, he had forgotten to look out for Lily in the stands.
"So what do you say we do then, Prongs?" Sirius asked.
Although it was not James who answered, it was Remus.
"I think we should probably go to the Great Hall and get something to eat. They're serving optional lunch to anyone who wants it."
And so the boys headed through the corridors into the Great Hall, where there was a lot of food layed out on the tables.

When the boys entered the Great Hall, it was filled with cheers from the Gryffindor table. The Hufflepuffs, Ravenclaws and Slytherins all seemed extremely miserable with the results of the match.
The Marauders picked their spot at the table and began to eat, James talking in detail about all thirteen times he had scored, with Sirius repeatedly reminding him that they had all been there, and all knew every little detail about how he scored. The only one who seemed remotely interested was Peter, but Peter was interested with anything James said.
