The day of the ball, Anna woke up feeling more nervous that she expected.

She couldn't seem to shake off the unease that rested on her mind, like a dark cloud of rain looming on the horizon, threatening to ruin a beautiful sunny day.

Nevertheless, she woke up and headed to training as usual, and Joey was finally present.

She tried to avoid interacting with him, but that within itself was a challenge.

Demitrey noticed that Aisha, Anna, and Joey were all distracted, so distracted that they were failing at reacting on time and defending themselves.

"What the hell is going on today? Come on get it together!" Demitrey snapped. He was not lenient when it came to training their kids. They would be the ones to lead the pack next, and Demitrey wanted to make sure that when they stepped up to the plate, they were more than ready to take on their role.

Anna groaned when James' fist almost gave her a brand new nose job.
Aisha grunted when Kade's foot delivered a hit to her lower leg.
Joey let out a pained grunt when Demitrey had him in a lock.

"THAT'S IT! Training is over! Get out of  my sight and don't you dare step foot back onto my training field until you have your stuff together!" Demitrey snapped, dismissing them, over their lack of focus for the day.

Anna let out a tired breath as she walked away disappointed. She hated when she disappointed her dad. She knew one day she would have to lead her pack, and she understood why her parents and entourage pushed her to excel, so when she lets them down, it makes her feel dispirited.

"Yeah? So don't you think hiding the fact that Xavier is a vampire won't disappoint your parents?" Maria pointed to Anna, trying to make her human see sense.
"Maria, not right now okay, I am just not in the mood for this." Anna stated, already feeling a pressure settle on her shoulder.
"Well when do you want to talk about it? When Xavier turns out to be a complete psychopath? Or just a revenge hungry monster?" Maria questioned.
"For heaven's sake, Maria, Xavier is not a monster. Just because we don't know him that well and he doesn't have a wolf doesn't automatically make him the bad guy. Just drop it." Anna-Marie ordered.
"Alright, fine. Consider it dropped." Maria snapped, and retracted to the back of Anna's mind before she could reply.

Sighing, Anna looked over at Aisha who was silent for once and with a frown on her face.

"Woah, you're thinking, which means this is not a good thing. Want to talk about it?" Anna asked her best friend as she linked her elbow with hers and they made their way towards castle.
"Nah, its just something I have to take care of by myself. I'm sorry I have to go for a run, I need to clear my head." Aisha excused herself, and pretty much dashed into the forest.

Anna confused by her best friend's behavior simply shrugged and headed into the castle.

As Anna-Marie headed down the hall towards her room, she did not expect for a closet door on her right to be pulled open. Nor did she expect to be pulled into the arms of none other than Joey.

Gasping, but instantly on guard, Anna pulled herself away from his hold and tried to open the door.

Joseph using his strength slammed an open palm onto the door, forcing it closed. Having no other choice than to confront her demanding mate, Anna turned back around and faced Joseph with her arms crossed.

"Missed me?" Joey stated in a non-friendly tone.
"Hardly." Anna brushed off, then she questioned "What do you want?"
"Why did you attack Vanessa?" He asked in an accusing tone.
"ME?! She's the one who came at me. You should've taught your girlfriend to respect others-"
"Anna stop it! You're playing a dangerous game. Now I've warned you before, stay away from Vanessa before you do something you regret and we all get hurt." Joey spoke in an ominous tone.
"What are you talking about?" Anna found herself asking, her curiosity spiking at Joey's words.
"Just trust me. You don't want to play this game Anna." Joseph warned, then his glare softened as he softly brushed his hand against her cheek.
