Prompt: Sam has a soft spot for tiny animals

Sam's POV:

I continued my walk through the woods just enjoying the scenery. I didn't get to have many calming moments in my life. It was early summer so the trees still had that light green color to them. Wildflowers were starting to bloom along with the trail y/n and I had created over the months.

She and I went on walks through the wood quite normally. We enjoyed just being in silence together. Today however I was alone. Y/n was on a hunt with Dean and I had come down with a fever the day we were all supposed to leave. It had been two days and I was back to full health now.

As I kept walking I heard a small 'yip' come from a nearby bush. I froze in place awaited. I heard the sound again. I crept closer to the bush keeping a hand on the knife in my belt.

I slowly pulled back the bush. A tiny puppy leaped out. I fell back in surprise and the puppy began running circles around me barking happily. It then climbed on my lap and put its paws on my chat to start licking my face.

I begin laughing at the cute dog's excitement. I scratch behind his ears and he clams down a bit. I sit with my legs crisscrossed under me while the small dog curls up in my lap. I notice he has a small light spot right on his paw. I continue to scratch behind his ears.

He nuzzles himself closer to me. I chuckle and pick him up off my lap. I stand and the puppy is immediately at attention.

"Go on bud," I say motioning for the other direction. He just sits there confused, his ears drooping downwards. "That way buddy." I point the other direction. The puppy barks and runs around my legs.

I begin walking home hoping maybe he'll just leave. The small dog trails happily behind me with his tongue out. I sigh.

"Fine dude, but you gotta stay quiet," I say. The puppy shuts his mouth almost as he understood. I chuckle and scratch behind his ears again before continuing my walk home. I reach the bunker door and pry it open.

The small dog scampers in bouncing around. I chuckle and lead him to the kitchen. I grab a chicken leg from last night and give it to him. He nibbles at it "aggressively". I chuckle and sit on the floor in front of him.

I grab my salad out of the fridge and I begin to eat that. (Ooo now I want a salad, brb)

(Okay I'm back from eating my salad.)

I watch the puppy happily prance over to me and lay his head on my lap. I chuckle and pet his head.

"I should probably call you something shouldn't I?" I chuckle. The puppy lets out a little 'yip'. And the idea comes to mind and I laugh. "How about Moose?" I ask him. He barks and spins around. "You like that buddy?" I ask. He barks again and stands on his hind legs.

I laugh and scratch his head. I hear the bunker door open and Moose begins to growl. It's not very threatening and it's almost cute to watch.

"Sam?" Dean yells out.

"In here!" I call back. Moose hops in my lap and curls up in a ball. Y/n walks into the kitchen to see me on the floor still. "This is Moose and he's staying here," I say before I can give her a chance to speak. She shrugs and sits next to me.

"Hey, buddy." She coos. He perks up and looks around for the new voice. He yips and waddle over to her cautiously. He holds out a hand for him to sniff. He sniffs it and then barks happily running up to her and licking her face. She laughs and falls on her back so she is level with him.

Dean walks in surprised at the scene in front of him.

"What's this?" He asks.

"It's Moose!" Y/n exclaims. "He's staying with us whether you like it or not." She says. Dean rolls his eyes and chuckles. He sits across from y/n and me on the floor. He holds out a hand for Moose to sniff. The puppy climbs on Dean and licks his face.

"Alright alright, I get it, dude." He says. We laugh. Dean left after a little while to go get some things for Moose.

"How was the hunt?" I ask petting Moose as he sits in my lap.

"It was good. Simple salt and burn." Y/n says kissing my cheek. She lays her head on my shoulder and I wrap my arm around her. I grab a fuzzy blanket on the back of the couch we were on and pulled it over both of us. We hear Moose let out a little bark.

"Sorry dude," I say sitting him in my lap on top of the blanket. I press a kiss to the top of y/n's head before laying back and falling into a peaceful sleep.

Dean returned later and saw you three snoozing on the couch. He quickly takes a photo of the cute scene and chuckles.

"Oh, that's so getting hung up."
