Chapter 24

Maya : Hey Lucas can I ask you a question 

Lucas : sure

Maya : why aren't your parents together

Lucas : well they would always fight and throw things at each other also they both worked so I was left home alone with Emily so I had to care of her and myself oh and just so you know when my parents started fighting that's when I would have to take my sister Emily and go to pappy Joe's house because I knew she didn't need to see it 

Maya : that's terrible

Lucas : yep so one day while dad was at work mom moved us to New York and left dad in Texas

Maya : do the others know 

Lucas : Zay , Farkle and Smakle know , Riley does not know that I'm broken too

Maya : your not that broken , your mom is still there for you 

Lucas : yeah but I'm still broken

Maya : oh ok true,  do you still talk to your dad

Lucas : sometimes we call each other and we see each other on holidays

Maya : that's nice I guess

Lucas : yeah he got his temper under control now and has a new family ,so I'm pretty much the male version of you

Maya : I'm sorry I didn't know and are you crying

Lucas : you don't have anything to be sorry for it's not your fault and yes its hard to deal with

Maya :  I know Lucas I just wanted to make sure you were ok I spent many days and nights crying wondering what I did to make my dad leave and wishing my mom was around more often and that I could just be a kid 

Lucas : I know same here i cried night and day too wishing for a normal life

Maya : well we're at my house now 

Lucas : I'll walk you to the door

Maya : ok

Lucas walks Maya to the door and gives her a goodnight kiss

Lucas : Maya why did Shawn just let me do that , sees him looking out the window

Maya : he's not as crazy as Matthews , Shawn definitely isn't going to steal your boot like Matthews does or kill you with a shovel not that Matthews would do that ethier

Lucas : lagughs , oh ok well good night

Maya : good night see you tomorrow at school

Shawn : so how was your evening 

Maya : it was good his mom fixed dinner and we went horseback riding and you just saw the goodnight kiss

Shawn : your right I did ,but he's a good kid I trust him

Maya : thanks Shawn
