The Fated Mates

Chapter Three

Looking around, I realized I should clean a little bit before he shows up tonight. I spent the next three hours washing clothes, cleaning the whole apartment and took a shower, but standing here looking in my closet, I have no idea what to wear. 

Grant it, it is here in my apartment, and we are not going out, but I cannot wear shorts and a tank top, even though I was comfortable in these. Finally, I decided to wear a nice summer dress, pulling it out and laying it on the bed, it was pretty enough, it was black with dark red roses scattered around it with small dragonflies hovering over the roses. 

Putting it on, I always loved how it felt against my skin, it was a cotton dress, but it felt so soft against me, and it went right above my knees so not to short or too long.

 Looking in the mirror happy with the choice I made but seeing my hair just hand there, I decided to throw it up in a braid. Six years ago, I decided to let it grow out so now it was to my butt, a braid would just have to work, then there's makeup, not wanting to much for being in my place, I decided a light coating of foundation, blush, eyeshadow and eyeliner and lip gloss. 

After the final addition, I stood back looking in the mirror and happy with my results. Looking over at the clock I notice it was going on seven already, wondering what time he was going to show up, since he never gave me an exact time, I went to my purse and grabbed the paper with his number. 

Grabbing my cell, I sat on the couch and texted him asking what time he was going to be showing up, so I had an idea. I was nervous and excited, never had a date before and for my first one being at my home was perfect for me so I would not act like an idiot. 

After texting him, I set my phone down on the table and turned on a movie to pass the time and I would not start over thinking any of this. I have a habit of talking myself out of everything that made me nervous or scared to try new things, but not this time, I was looking forward to getting to know Stephen. 

The movie finished and I still have not heard anything, even though I will admit I checked my phone about twenty times though out the movie, it was going on nine o'clock and still nothing, I was getting hungry so I decided to have some fruit and yogurt in case he brought a late dinner I would still be able to eat it. 

Sitting there I started to wonder if this were a joke, he was pulling on me. I really hope not, that would crush me. I decided to not think on that, it would not be a good road to go down. Sitting there I put in another movie. I hope nothing bad happened to him I thought while settling on the couch.

 I looked at my watch, seeing it was going on midnight I turned off the television and went to change my clothes into my night shorts and tank top, washed my face and left my hair in a braid, turned off the lights, I laid there trying hard not to cry, but the tears came anyway, I was so hurt and crushed that he never showed up, taking my favorite pillow I cried into it until sleep claimed me. 

Laying there not wanting to open my eyes,  I could hear the birds singing and knowing my bladder was about to burst if I did not go soon, it would revolt against me laying here and I so did not need that this am. Getting up and using the bathroom, I dragged myself to the kitchen to grab some juice, was not in the mood this morning to eat, so with my juice I saw my cell on the coffee table and grabbed it and went back into my room to hide in bed all day since yesterday was a washout.

 I felt my phone vibe on the bed, I looked over at it sitting there, wondering if he texted with a reason for standing me up, I grabbed it and opened it to seeing a text from my best friend Darcy, she said she would be over around three and she was bringing dinner. Our weekly routine, every Sunday she came over bringing dinner and we sat around talking about everyone in the office and what new guy she was seeing.
