The Reaping

To me this is a useless day. I mean we already know who is going into the games.  Of course when I go downstairs I see a plate of sausage and eggs. That's when I walked right back upstairs. I just can't stomach that today.  I reach into my closet and pull out a long blue dress.  I then proceeded to straighten my wavy hair.  I looked in the mirror and saw a beautiful girl standing there.  Man I looked good.  But It wasn't me.  I am just a girl who happens to have rich parents.  Time to block out those thoughts though. Because I heard the bell that it was time to go to the reaping.  It then hit me.  I wasn't coming home.  EVER.  I know I'm going to die when I get there.  I'm just not as strong as I look.  I quickly followed the rest of the kids to the square.  Every one knew that I had volunteer.  I got my finger pricked. Which kind of hurts but not that bad.  I got in line with all of the other 17 year olds.  When our districts escort stepped out into the stage. Her name is Aubré Lee.  She then began her speech "Welcome Welcome to the reaping of the 74th Hunger Games.  First off we have a very special video straight from our wonderful Capitol!"  It's the same video every year. Just as boring every time.  After it's over Aubré starts speaking again. "May the odds be ever in your favor.  As always ladies first.  "Stella Johnson."  It was my time to shine.  "I volunteer as tribute."  I said proudly.  I skipped up to the stage.  Not that I wanted it to, but I had too.  "Alright now for the boys.  Benjamin Golding!"  I heard the four words that crushed me the most "I volunteer as tribute!" yelled Marvel.
