14. Family Ties

Nathan POV

"I'm up, I'm up. What's going on?" I looked around and my mates were running around like madmen.

"Vince is in labor we gotta go." I looked at Eric until it registered what he just said.

"Grab the diaper bag." I said and got ready.

"I called Dr. Baldwin, he's prepped and ready to go." Caleb said and we ran out of the house.

"Where are the kids?" I asked. We just left without telling them.

"They'll meet us. They woke up to Vince's screaming." Caleb said and we looked at our poor mate.

When we got there he was rushed to a room and we followed.

"We couldn't fall back asleep." Holt said coming up behind us with Altan.

"Caleb, he's asking for you." Dr. Baldwin peeked his head out and I could see some blood on him and bit my lip.

"Coming." Caleb said getting up and walking to the room as we waited.

"He'll be ok, right?" Holt asked as we sat there in silence.

"Yes, he'll be fine. He's in good hands." I said and rubbed his back. He laid his head on my shoulder and Altan was cuddled up to Adin.

"Try to get some sleep, we'll be here for a while." I said to him and he nodded and used my bicep as his pillow and closed his eyes. I ran my hand through his hair and kissed his head as he went to sleep.

I looked at my other mates and as much as we are worried, we need sleep so when I saw Adin and Altan sleeping, Seth and Eric sleeping next to each other on the small couch, I laid my head back against the wall and closed my eyes, thinking positive thoughts about our mate getting surgery.

What felt like forever, I was soon woken up by a smiling Caleb.

"What time is it?" I asked.

"Well, it's a little after nine now. He started to hemorrhage so Dr. Balwin had to stop the bleeding but he's alive and healing now." He smiled.

"Let's go see our babies." He said.

I looked around for the others but they were no longer in the waiting room.

"They went to get us all food. They'll meet us there." I nodded and followed him.

When we got there I was immediately hit with a mixture of iron and cleaner.

"Hey, my strong buck, how are you feeling?" I smiled down at my weak and tired looking mate.

"I'm in pain but I'll survive. I look like hell though." He said weakly.

"Well my strong buck, if there's ever a person who comes out looking like a runway model after delivering a baby or two... you know what, I don't even know where I was going with that." We all chuckled.

"So where are our babies?" I asked and he pointed to them.

I smiled and walked over to our boys.

"The blonde-haired little one is Gavin and the brunette is Hayden." Vince said.

They look so precious.

"They look so peaceful sleeping without a care." I smiled.

"That's true." Caleb said.

"We're back..." Eric said walking in with the rest of the family.

I smiled as our family was ever-growing and I couldn't be happier.
