Chapter Two....

As I enter the class I notice the other students turning in their assignments and I rushed to my seat and threw my backpack down next to a desk by the window.  Mrs. Mackelhenny who was a short, plump woman with lots of personality, no doubt the nicest teacher here at Horizon Christian School, sat at her desk with her arms crossed as she appraised the students.

Addison smirks at me, "I told you you should've done it."  I groan and scribble down some nonsense.

"Hey Olive, what's up?" It was a boy with messy black hair and brilliant emerald eyes and a dreamy smile.

"Nothin' much, Flacco, just trying to finish this damn homework." I said with a light blush of colour playing at my cheeks; I've had a crush on Flacco since we first met last year.

He chuckled, "Man, you're always late with assignments."

"Well, I'm always doing something else," I said smugly as I turned back to my blank assignment.

"Like what?" he asked raising a skeptical eyebrow.  "Painting your toenails?"

"No."  I said with obvious distaste.  Why would he think I'd do something so... so girly?

"Then what? Oh, I know. You're always reading those books. I'm right, aren't I?"

I groan inwardly, "Yes, You are absolutely correct.  It's so boring around here and books are so exciting and adventurous."

"So, you want to go on an adventure?"  Flacco suggested.

"YES! That would be so much fun and... and exhilarating!" I said aloud.

"Shh!" Mrs. Mackelhenny said with bulging eyes and a pudgy finger over her lips. I roll my eyes as I get up to turn in my worksheet.

The day continued to drone on uneventfully, as usual. Although, lunch was fun with Addie, Flacco, and Mitchel, my roommate.  We chatted about movies we wanted to see during spring break, which is only two weeks away. Everyone was always pumped up for breaks because we get to use the internet and listen to non-Christian music.

After lunch I have Biology with Mr. Akers, a young science teacher with a hearty beard heavily induced with dandruff. (Ew!)

"Today we're learning about cell mitosis..." Mr. Akers drawls.  I studiously take notes because Biology is my favourite class. Learning isn't the fun part; Mr. Akers is just an excellent teacher.

After school we left the Beacon Center to get to the Dining Room for supper.  I just opened the door to leave when I noticed the sky; it was a bit wavy-like, as if there was gas in the air.

"Hey, Mitch, what do you suppose is making the sky look like that?" Addie asks with a worried frown.

"I dunno, but it's a bit creepy." she answers.

Me, being the imaginative person in our group said, "What if it means that these aliens are going to, like, come and, like, abduct everyone from campus? Or someone's gonna blow up the planet?"  I think about it and it makes perfect sense to me...

Flacco sighs and says, "wow, Olive, I think you should stop reading those alien books you've got."

"Oh, what are you reading now, Liv?" Addie asked.

"I Am Number Four," I said with a shrug.

          "Is it any good?"

"Well, the action is great but, man, the romance is unbelievably cliché!" I said exasperatedly.

Mitch is still staring at the peculiar sky with her round dark brown eyes; she tucks a lock of coffee coloured hair behind her ear and said to no one in particular, "This sky is making me quite nervous, y'know.  I've never seen or read anything like this."

We finally make it to the Dining Room and eat a good, filling meal.  When the tables cleared Addie, Mitch, the rest of the girls and I head up to the dorm for study hall.

Disclaimer: Unfortunately I do not own I Am Number Four which is by the anonymous name of, Pitacus Lore.
