I know it's sooner than expected, but here's the next part. I'm going to go ahead and warn you the story won't be super long, as the next book hasn't been released, and I'm hoping to stick as close to the real storyline as possible.
Anyways, Astro out!
Nothing changed. He felt exactly the same.
"Are you sure it worked?" Viggo asked his new ally.
She giggled and replied. "Yeah, it looks that way. Now that you can understand us, why don't my friends introduce themselves?"
He nodded and turned to the other dragons. The other NightWing spoke first. "My name is Moonwatcher, but call me Moon. And before someone decides to bug me about it, I'm going to let you know that I can read your mind. But if you have this rock, we call it skyfire, it will block your thoughts." She handed him a small black rock, which he placed inside his bag. This dragon was a mind reader? Incredible.
The next one to speak was the supposed RainWing. "Hi! My name's Kinkajou, I'm a RainWing student at our school. Wow, it's soooo cool to be speaking to a scavenger! Also, I'm, like, best friends with my queen. So-"
Moon nudged her gently while suppressing a laugh. "Kinkajou, calm down. Scavengers are what we call you."
Viggo nodded, feeling a bit overwhelmed already. He was normally calm in situations like these, but speaking to dragons? Things seemed to be getting more and more unbelievable.
"I'm Turtle, the one who enchanted your necklace." The SeaWing introduced. Viggo could already tell that this dragon was shy and quiet. Far more so than the RainWing was.
"I'm Peril, don't get close to me, though, I don't want to burn you," said the SkyWing, and Viggo realized this really was the dragon with firescales, impressive.
"And I'm Qibli, advisor to the best queen ever, Queen Thorn." Said the SandWing, proudly lifting his chin.
"No, Glory is the best queen ever!" Kinkajou argued.
Stardust stepped forward to intercept Qibli's next comment before a fight could break out. "Alright, everyone. Keep your scales on, please. And why don't we take this chat inside. Okay?"
Viggo was amazed. Besides these dragons being, well, dragons, they weren't that different from the people who lived in the archipelago. He wondered if the dragons back there were anything like these. If they were, was there a way to communicate with them as well?
He followed close behind the dragons as they went inside the beautiful shining palace. Viggo didn't know if he'd ever be able to return to the archipelago. Everyone thought he was dead, and he wanted to keep it that way. At least, for now. And if he did go back, where would he go? Maybe he could convince Stardust to come back with him.
No, she had a kingdom to think about. Besides, there was no way she'd agree. Stardust probably didn't even enjoy being around him.
He'd think about it later, after this. Viggo looked around the massive hall they were now in, it was the throne room. And at the end of the hall sat a glittering throne. Stardust's throne. This whole place was beautiful.
Stardust didn't go to the throne, she stopped about halfway down the hall and sat with her friends. Viggo walked and sat down beside her, quietly. He didn't want to interrupt the conversation.
. . .
"I'm so glad Darkstalker's gone." Stardust said to the dragonets. "How did you do it? Was the prophecy stopped? Did Jade Mountain really fall beneath thunder and ice?"
Viggo looked at her in confusion. "Prophecy?"
Stardust exchanged a glance with Moon, who nodded. "Moon here was born under two full moons, so she can also see visions of the future. She had a vision while at our school in Jade Mountain that delivered a prophecy, though I don't remember it word for word. Moon?"
Viggo looked at Moon next. Stardust could tell that he was confused, but would do his best to understand this.
"The prophecy I delivered was this: Beware the darkness of dragons, Beware the stalker of dreams, Beware the talons of power and fire, beware one who is not what she seems. Something is coming to shake the earth, Something is coming to scorch the ground. Jade Mountain will fall beneath thunder and ice, Unless the lost city of night can be found." Moon explained. "And no, Stardust, Jade Mountain and everyone there is fine. As for Darkstalker..."
"We're sure he won't be coming back ever again." Qibli continued.
"Good." Stardust nodded. Viggo hadn't yet said anything about the prophecy, but he was deep in thought at the moment, so he was definitely pondering it.
She became worried when she saw her friends gaze's shift to concern and fear.
"There's something else we need to talk about." Turtle began.
"I had another prophecy vision." Moon continued. "We still haven't quite figured it out. It said this: Turn your eyes, your wings, your fire To the land across the sea Where dragons are poisoned and dragons are dying And no one can ever be free. A secret lurks inside their eggs. A secret hides within their book. A secret buried far below May save those brave enough to look. Open your hearts, your minds, your wings To the dragons who flee from the Hive. Face a great evil with talons united Or none of the tribes will survive."
"Well that's great," Stardust muttered. "Another doom prophecy. But I do have some ideas. Come with me back to my study."
Everyone was silent as Stardust led them through the palace. Once arriving inside, Stardust began digging through her piles of notes. She barely heard Viggo when he spoke.
"Are there other places besides this continent? Other islands with dragon tribes?" He asked them.
Stardust was the one to reply. "There are legends."
She returned to them and placed a scroll onto the carpet.
Moon gasped. "You mean the Lost Continent? Could it be real?"
"What's that?" Peril asked, equally as confused as Kinkajou and Viggo looked.
"Legends tell of another continent, across the ocean, where new dragon tribes live. Clearsight was rumored to have gone there after the whole Darkstalker fiasco two thousand years ago." Stardust told them.
"But how do we get there? No dragon can fly across the ocean without stops like that." Qibli added.
"Clearsight was also rumored to have a stronger ability to see the future then most. I think she used her power to fly from island to island until she reached the Lost Continent."
"Who's Clearsight?" Viggo wondered. Moon was the one to answer.
"Clearsight was a dragon who lived two thousand years ago, she was rumored to have a very powerful ability when it came to visions of the future. NightWings with that power never had the choice to look down the paths in the future. She did." Moon explained.
"I have an idea." Viggo continued. "Stardust said that SeaWings can breathe underwater, can you send SeaWings to look for it? They wouldn't have to fly or find islands if they swam."
"That's brilliant!" Qibli exclaimed. "Stardust you really should have brought him here sooner."
She giggled. Viggo, too embarrassed, stayed silent.
"But who do we send? I could go, but I'm not traveling to some random continent without backup." Turtle protested.
Kinkajou broke in. "What about Tsunami? I could definitely talk her into going on another heroic quest to save the world!"
Before Viggo got any more confused, Stardust leaned down to him and spoke. "Tsunami is Turtle's sister, one of the Jade Mountain Academy founders, she's the daughter of Queen Coral, and also one of the dragonets of destiny. A group of five dragonets born to end a past war. The War of SandWing Succession. Kinkajou, Viggo can ride with you, no flips or anything, and please explain the SandWing Succession war to him on the way. We're going to Jade Mountain to speak with Tsunami."
After everyone had agreed, Stardust, Moon, Qibli, Peril, Turtle, Kinkajou, and Viggo were on the way to Jade Mountain.
