Time seemed to be moving much quicker than Jonathan had wanted. He had sent Casey a message back, but received no answer. There was only twenty minutes left in class, so the teacher gave them some free time to chat and work on homework. Jonathan was nervously tapping his pencil and failing to get any work done.
Minx, trying to hide her worry, taps his arm and gives him a small smile. "You okay?"
He wanted to tell her everything. That he had an extreme case of OCD and that anxiety was eating him up, but his brain convinced him that she didn't care. He could see the concern written all over her face, and it made him more nervous.
"I just feel a little nauseous, I think." Schlatt lied, giving Minx the fakest smile that he could muster.
To Schlatt's dismay, Minx could tell he was lying. "Are you sure? You seem.. nervous." Minx whispered. She rested her hand on Jonathan's arm, giving him a small sign that she was there for him if he needed her.
This feeling couldn't be described in Jonathan's mind. It was truly wonderful and terrifying at the same time. He couldn't tell if the feeling in his stomach was nervousness or happiness. Minx had a way of making him feel like everything would be okay.
"I guess you caught me." Schlatt swallowed nervously. He put his hand on top of Minx's and squeezed her hand softly. "There's a lot going on in my life right now."
Minx blushed but tried her best to ignore it. Right now, things were about Jonathan and whatever was going on with him, not her massive crush on him. "I'm not gonna pressure you to tell me, but I just want you to know that if you need anyone to talk to, that I'm here."
Jonathan smiled. It wasn't a fake smile, but a warm one. He was lucky to meet Minx. But her kindness didn't last for long, as the bell signaling the end of class rang.
In a hurry, Jonathan packed his things. Minx slowly packed hers, eyeing the tall boy next to her. "I'll see you later?"
"Definitely." He replied, zipping up his bag. He gave her a small peck on the cheek before practically running out of the classroom.
Grinning to herself, Minx continued to pack her stuff.

The frustration that Casey felt was immense. What about her text was so confusing? All she wanted to do was see if their friendship was okay. It took a lot for them to even consider being friends, but she wasn't gonna let things end now. She lost a boyfriend and a couple friends trying so hard to be his friend. Not that that was his fault, but it was the truth.
Chasing Jonathan was easy. His height allowed for her to easily follow him down the lengthy hallways. Head down, Jonathan stopped at his locker and began sorting through his text books.
"Hey!" Casey leaned up against the locker next to his. Jonathan jumped. "Why were you practically running away from me?"
"I dunno."
Sighing, Casey shook her head. "You know, I'm not judging you. I don't think of you any differently. You're the same quiet kid who sometimes writes in a journal during class. You still suck at 8-ball and still have that weird guy as your lock screen."
Jonathan couldn't help but stare at the frustrated girl next to him. Why was she so upset, he was the one who should be embarrassed.
"Casey, I'm just... embarrassed." Jonathan replied sheepishly. "I'm not the type of person who flaunts their mental illness around like its a trend."
Casey frowned. "I never said you were, and you never did. You opened up to a friend. It's a sign, Jonathan."
Scoffing, Jonathan began picking up his pace. He was done with this conversation. "Please, I really don't want to talk about it."
"Fine. Can we just pretend it never happened and that we're just two awkward kids in English that have no friends?" Casey practically gave Schlatt puppy eyes.
Rolling his eyes, Schlatt nodded and shut his locker. "Not a word about it to me or anyone else."
Casey bit her lip and smiled. This was a victory in her book.
