hello people who are still reading this!!
so recently (as you probably saw) there was another meltdown on twitter about stans. i decided i'd discuss it with you guys, cuz we're all kind of in the same boat.
before you continue, i want this discussion to be respectful and not to attack anyone or generalize anyone!! i think its healthy for fans to discuss differing opinions!!!
so, i am going to say my personal opinion. and you have EVERY right to disagree!! that's the fun thing about opinions, none of them are correct or incorrect!!
let's discuss!! i'll have a few questions ya'll can answer and we can discuss in the comments :)))) i love interacting with you guys and having discussions are literally such a fun way to get to know you!!
so let's get started!!
1. how did you feel about josh's tweets on his alt? do you think it was phrased badly or just a general strong opinion?
2. do you think noah deserved to be attacked for using big words or calling someone stupid?
3. do you think stans get a bad rep? why or why not?
4. do you consider yourself a stan?
5. whats YOUR definition of a stan?
6. do you think people should respect their opinions about disliking stans/stan culture?
7. do you think people should bring up old tweets/videos to use against them?
MY ANSWERS:
1. in my opinion, i think josh just phrased things a little too aggressively, but many people took them way too literally. people were claiming that josh wanted to kill them all, but i think he meant that mindset.
2. as fans of lunch club, many of their fans forget that half of them have a more raunchy sense of humor. not all of them are as innocent as charlie is!! noah plays that *sshole persona where he acts high and mighty, and i really think its funny!! also, i think that people shouldn't attack him for using big words/for having a stronger vocabulary. noah is clearly a more educated person, and it's stupid to hate on him for it.
3. i think the stans that are in the spotlight are those who make a problem out of everything. they are the ones you see taking over twitter and trending stuff to either cancel someone or promote them. i think it's cool to promote someone who is deserving, but they don't realize the power they have.
4. i used to, but not anymore. it used to be a more fun and inviting environment but i am afraid to even exist in fear that i'll say the wrong thing and get blasted on twitter.
5. well, the term stan originated from an eminem song, and it means "stalker fan" which already isn't an image i'd like. it's a song where a fan thinks they are entitled to special treatment and that eminem owes him it. basically, its a story of narcissistic personality disorder who has delusions about eminem. the title "stan" came from SUCH a dark and bad background and i don't think its healthy to label yourself as such.
6. absolutely!! opinions are opinions, and you should respect them! if you don't respect other's opinions, you absolutely cannot expect respect in return. there's a difference between actual legitimate opinions, like stan culture or what content creator you like/dislike. the only opinions you can be disrespectful to are ones that are demeaning to race/gender/sexuality/etc. those aren't opinions, theyre just hate!
7. nope! i'm literally a completely different person than i was three months ago. people are ALWAYS changing, and you don't know these people in real life. if you can see clear change in how a person acts, then bringing up their past shitty mistakes is just a way to harm them just because you don't like them. especially with schlatt, cuz we all should know that he has many different personas and none of us really know what he's like.
