It's been three days since we left Kyoshi. Sokka ended up getting over whatever was bothering him fairly quickly. I have no idea what that was about, but I don't care enough to figure it out. He pretty much forgave me anyways after only a day because I bought him some meat from a market we stopped at.
Aang and I have become pretty close, he talks to me about his crush on Katara and stuff. We basically think of each other as siblings now, it's great.
Katara and I have been talking a lot too. She asks me for advice on things, and I ask her for advice as well. We talk about random things, I found a blue rock and gave it to her, so that's fun. She's cool. We vibe. We're walking up a snowy hill, Sokka's complaining, as per usual. We get to the top and Aang spreads his arms wide.
"The Earth Kingdom city of Omashu! I used to come here and visit my friend Bumi all the time."
"Wow. It's incredible Aang." I smile at him.
"They have building that don't melt!" Sokka exclaims excitedly. I laugh and Sokka turns his head and smiles at me.
After a few second of silence, Aang begins, "well come on slow pokes! The real fun's in the city!" He leaps off the hill and we follow, Katara running after him and stopping him as Sokka and I catch up."Wait! You should put on a disguise. It could be dangerous if someone found out that you're the avatar." She explains,
"What am I supposed to do? Grow a moustache?"Aang's wearing a moustache.
"Ugh, it's so itchy. Appa, how do you live in this stuff?" He complains.
"Great! Now you look just like my grandfather."
I glance at Sokka. "Well he is technically old enough." I chuckle.
Aang kicks up his staff and uses it as a walking stick. "Well let's get goin' young whipper snappers. The big city awaits!" He says in an old mans voice. We walk up to the gates and see a guy with cabbages get told that he can't have cabbages in the city. He's visibly upset, but is absolutely mortified when the earth bending guard shoots them off with a rock.
"mY cAbBAgES!!!!!!!!!"
I lean over to Sokka "what's it called when someone kills a cabbage."
"Huh?"
"Slaw-der."
"..."
"..."
Sokka laughs at my awful joke, and I chuckle with him.
Katara looks at us, concerned that we aren't more worried about us ending up like those cabbages. We walk up to the guard and he earth bends a giant boulder above our heads
"State your business." He demands. Aang runs up to the guard using his air bending and sticks a finger in the guys face.
"My business is my business young man!" Aang shout in his old man voice. The guard gets distracted and drops the Boulder beside Sokka and I. He yanks me out of the way and we stand there in each others arms for a moment. He then jumps away from me with a pink tint on his face. My face feels slightly warm. I rub my arm and we both redirect our attention towards Aang again.Aang gets even closer to the guy and continues yelling at him.
"I have half the mind to bend you over my knee and paddle your backside!"
Katara is shaking her head in shock, Sokka is staring at Aang with his mouth wide open, while I'm just trying not to laugh my ass off."Alright alright, settle down old timer." The guard says. "Just tell me who you are."
"Names Bonzu Pippinpaddleopsicopolis, the third. And these are my grand kids." Katara walks up to join them.
"Hi, June Pippinpaddleopsicopolis, Nice to meet you."
I lean over and whisper to Sokka, "dang, she did NOT stutter." Sokka nods in agreement. The guard studies us closely, he looks at me and I give him a kind smile. He straightens up and clears his throat.
"You two" he gestures to Katara and I, "seem like responsible young ladies. See that your grandfather stays out of trouble." He chuckles. "Enjoy Omashu!"
"We will!" I smile. We start to move into the city when the guard eyes Sokka.
"Wait!" Sokka gulps and glances at me nervously.
"You're a strong young boy. Show some respect for the elderly and carry your grandfathers bag!" Aang then saunters over and tosses his bag to Sokka.
"Good idea!" He grins smugly.
