Zara eavesdropped on Steve and Natasha's conversation.
"I didn't say we should leave," Natasha had said, looking out to the horizon. "There's worse ways to go. Where else am I going to get a view like this?"
"I'm sorry," Zara said, coming up beside the pair. "You've got me fucked up if you think I'm dying on a floating rock because of some psychotic robot."
Steve sighed at her language. "I don't suppose you've got a plan?"
"Nope. I don't know how I'm going to die, but I can guarantee this is not it."
"Well, unless-" Steve started, being interrupted by a familiar voice over their comms.
"Well I'm glad you like the view Romanoff, it's about to get better."
The clouds parted to reveal a massive Shield helipad, with room enough for everyone currently stuck on the floating city.
"Nice, right? Pulled her out of the moth balls with a couple of old friends. She's dusty, but she'll do."
"Fury, you son of a bitch," Steve said, squinting at the sunlight.
"You kiss your mother with that mouth?"
"I gotta say, Fury, this is probably the only time I'll ever be happy to see you," said Zara, observing Pietro approaching.
"I wish I could say the same," Fury replied sarcastically.
"This is Shield?" asked Pietro, with a smile.
"This is what Shield is supposed to be."
"This is not so bad."
Smaller platforms broke off the mothership, attaching themselves around the city to be filled up with civilians. The four heroes broke off- each having a different task at hand.
"Thor, I got a plan-"
"We're out of time," the god responded. "They're coming for the core."
Zara looked at the sky and saw dozens of Ultron bots heading toward the core. She quickly pushed the last of the people onto the carrier, and sped off to help protect the core.
"Avengers, time to work for a living," Tony said, as he also joined her at the core.
"What's the drill? Asked Natasha as she approached.
"This is the drill. If Ultron gets a hand on the core, we loose."
As they finished fighting the wave of robots, Ultron flew down.
"Is that the best you can do?" Thor provoked, causing Ultron to let out a cynical chuckle. He raised a hand, calling hundreds of minions to his aid. They swarmed him, waiting for his queue to attack.
"You had to ask."
"This is the best I can do. This is exactly what I wanted. All of you against all of me. How could you possibly hope to stop me?"
"Like the old man said," started Tony, "Together."
Hulk roared as Ultron's bots attacked. No matter how many they killed, it seemed like they were never-ending. Tony blasted, Zara ripped and stabbed, Clint and Natasha shot, and Hulk hulked.
Even with her speed, there didn't seem to be enough time to get rid of them all.
Zara slowed down to Pietro's level as she haw him get hit, catching his attention. "You alright, kid?" Blood spilled from his stomach, not a lot, but enough to leave a mark.
