Cantabile - a vocal singing interpretation of an instrumental piece
It has been a truly pleasant day for the academy. Y/N and Chaewon's success in the concours brought its fame and prestige to new heights as the two of them were able to deliver a magnificent performance that anyone would praise. The day after the competition, students, faculty and everyone in the academy gave them nothing but sincere words of praise and congratulations for making them all proud. Within their class, they threw a small celebration for the two as they were more than happy to give them a warm welcome for giving it their all.
Now that the pressure of the competition id behind them, the two were now able to focus on preparing for the upcoming music festival. It is an annual tradition of the school to showcase the talents of all up and coming musicians and performers of all levels as it opens the event to the public. Most of the activities in the festival are performed by the academy's various clubs, who will spend the next few weeks practicing for their own group performances that they hope both the visitors and their fellow students can enjoy.
As members of the School Choir, Y/N and Chaewon are required to participate in their activities as Y/N's first performance with them would truly be one of the anticipated events that everyone would be looking forward to.
But there was one other person who was not in the mood for such festivities. The pain that she felt during the night of their celebration after the concours had greatly affected her to the point where she immediately left after witnessing it.
It was Hitomi, as she knew that any chance she had to be with Y/N were now gone. Yet, she wasn't able to move on completely as she had hoped, as the pain she had became jealousy the more they look at them whenever they see them together. That sense of jealousy slowly affected her and started to strain her friendship with Chaewon. In her mind, Chaewon stole the one person she wanted to be with, and if only she managed to confess her feelings first, then she thought that she would be able to move forward even if she knew that Y/N will reject her. These thoughts of hers made her distant towards her once best friend, and became the very reason why she wasn't truly committed to their performance.
Academy Rooftops, after class hours
Felix was spending his time alone at the school rooftops thinking about what happened. He knew all along that Hitomi had feelings for his best friend, but knowing that he was fully committed to having a relationship with his own sister, he understood that it was not meant to be for her to be together with Y/N. He is torn between telling Y/N and Chaewon the truth, or to allow Hitomi to tell it herself with him guiding her. These uncertainties, coupled with his own honest feelings towards Hitomi, have kept him from concentrating with their own performance for the festival.
Having brought his trumpet with him, he started to play a melancholic piece in order to let out his own feelings for a while. As he was doing this, Han managed to hear him play as he went to the rooftops looking for him. Felix noticed him as he went to greet him, giving him a faint smile as the two of them started a conversation.
"Hey Felix, are you doing okay? I've been looking all over for you, we need you back at the club for the rehearsals."
"I'm sorry Han. I'm just........thinking about a lot of stuff right now, so I'm not really in the mood to practice."
"I can see that. You've spent the whole day all by yourself, you didn't even join us for lunch. Chaewon and Y/N were really worried about you." Han said.
Hearing their names, Felix felt even more anxious as Han starts asking him about it.
"Wait a second, Felix. Don't tell me it's about them. Are you trying to tell me that you don't approve of Y/N becoming Chaewon's boyfriend?" Han asked in jest.
