Shanzay's POV

Darkness engulfed everything. I looked around the place only to see a flicker of light. I tried to grab it but it kept disappearing until it took the shape of a familiar-looking figure. I leapt towards it but as soon as I got closer, it disappeared right before my eyes and reappeared at another corner of the room. This game of hide-and-seek was getting frustrating. I desperately wanted to reach it and grab it and never let go. Out of helplessness, tears welled up in my eyes, and I was running madly towards that familiar-looking figure trying to hold it one last time, but soon it began to fade away.

"Please don't leave me!" I cried "please not again!"I whimpered, but I was left alone in darkness....

I heard someone calling me from a distance.

Shanzay! Shanzay..!

I woke up abruptly, cold sweat beaded on my forehead, and my breathing was irregular. It was Mama calling at the door.

"Shanzay wake up, or you'll be late for university": She said

"yes I am up." I replied, already exhausted thinking about my day ahead

"Hurry up and get ready, I am waiting downstairs for you, your breakfast is ready..." I heard her footsteps descending towards the stairs.

"Ok."  I replied and got up to get ready for university.

Rising from the bed, I made my way towards the cupboard. Ugh university, it's going to be a long day. It's been an year since I started my BBA and let me tell you one thing life does not get easy after school or college, its all a lie! To be honest, BBA was not my first choice or as a matter of fact, I never really thought about what I wanted for my career until I saw Mama putting so much hard work in Dad's business to keep it from falling apart. Seeing her struggle, I just made up my mind that I am going to get a degree in business, study from the best business school and take care of Dad's business so she would get some ease too. And then My best friend Zainab decided to choose business as well. cherry on top! I don't know about everyone but friends make everything easier. They keep you sane in your most darkest moments and they cheer you up during the gloomiest of times. I picked out a pink kurti along with light blue jeans and went to take a shower. I hurriedly dried my hair as I was getting late, wrapped a matching scarf around my neck and went downstairs for breakfast. Shit it's already 8:30, Mama is going to kill me!

Azlaan's POV

It was 7:30 in the morning when I returned home from jogging. I went straight into the shower as it was getting late for university. I changed my clothes, wore simple denim jeans and a black t-shirt. Today's jog was fun. The morning time is just so peaceful at the park. Fewer people, a stillness and beauty in the surroundings. For a moment, I just wanted to stop and breath in the fresh air. The rising sun in the horizon is such a sight to see and the birds chirping; everything feels so perfect. Sometimes, when I look around, I am just at a loss of words, such beauty, such exquisiteness that Allah has granted us. I don't think in our busy lives we get to take a moment and really admire the life around us, if we did we wouldn't be complaining about little things really.

When I went for breakfast, I saw Mama waiting for me. Dad had already left for office as he had an early meeting and Saadi and Noor were gone to their respective college and school as well. I sat at the breakfast table and started munching on the sandwich that Mama had made for me. I was on a time crunch so I tried to gulp everything hurriedly as Mama wouldn't have let me leave without breakfast. Just Mama things. sigh. No matter how old you get, mothers always treat you like little kids but It's their love language.
