Summary: Okay so I was watching That '70s Show, the episode where Jackie is dating a boy to make Hyde jealous, and the guy calls her a bitch so Hyde punches him and this is based off of that.

If you would have told y/n 6 months ago that that she was best friends with the pogues she would have laughed you off of the Outer Banks. And yet here she is on the HMS Pogue sunbathing with Kie and Sarah while the boys fish off the back of the boat. You hear the boys start whooping and hollering looking up to you see John B pulling in a load of fish.

"Gross" the three girls complain in unison as the fish flop around on the bottom of the boat.

"Ladies this is gonna pay for our kegger tonight so you better stop complaining" John B says chuckling

The boys put the fish in the cooler and Pope starts the boat so they can head back to the château. JJ sits down on the other side of Sarah. You get up and walk over to him.

"So JJ aren't keggers romantic?"
You ask him you see Sarah raise her eyebrows at you.
"Oh yeah drunk kids trying to get in each others pants. That's amore."
He says clearly annoyed
"So JJ would you like to go to John B's kegger with me"
Your friends chuckle at your obvious crush on JJ even though he has no interest
"Look y/n, I told you I'm just not interested in you like that. It's nothing personal I love you just not like that."
You frown as he gets up to go talk to John B and Pope.
"You good?"
Kie asks as you sit down next to her
"Ugh I just wish my daddy could buy him for me"
You say putting your head on her shoulder.
She chuckles
"I know"
"But it's okay I'm going to make him fall in love with me."
You say Sarah sits up suddenly interested
"How you gonna do that girlie?"

You quietly tell the girls your plan so that's the boys can't hear. When you arrive at the dock you and the girls hop out, tell the boys goodbye and head to Sarah's house to get ready. After taking a shower you put on a striped tub top, a couple of necklaces and white denim shorts and do a minimalist makeup look then you curl your hair. You put on your coke top sunglasses ( I think that's what they're called) and grab your brown purse.

"Alright Dustin said he would meet me at the party" you say smiling
"Are you sure this is a good idea?" Sarah asked
"Trust me Dustin has been chasing after me since freshman year. JJ is gonna be so jealous."
"I hope your right. But even if it doesn't you look great and who knows maybe Dustin will help you move on from JJ."
Kie says
You smile at her but role your eyes playfully, knowing that she just wants what's best for you. Even if  what's best for you isn't what you want to happen.
"Okay girls lets go or we're gonna be late"
The three of you hop into Sarah's car and drive to the beach. When you arrive you guys walk down to where the boys are. Sarah and JB kiss, while you look around for Dustin, and Kie talks to pope.
"Hey babe" you turn around to see Dustin standing there he hands you a drink and you two walk away from your friends to talk by the fire. You guys were taking and flirting. You were genuinely having a good time with him.
"I'm going to grab another drink."
Dustin nods in acknowledgement you walk over to the keg where JJ is handing out drinks.
"So you and Dustin together now?"
He asks you can't tell if he is asking out of jealous or curiosity.
"Yep"
You respond with fake happiness
"Huh"
"You don't care JJ, now do you?"
You ask smirking
"Nah, if you want to date that guy it's cool with me, I don't care."
"Good"
You grab your drink from him and walk away with a big smile on your face knowing you got under his skin just a little bit. On your way back to Dustin Sarah walks up and links arms with you.
"So how's it going?"
"Good, I think it's working"
"Great, I'll let you get back to Dustin. Just please remember it might not work out the way you hope, and Dustin seems like a great guy. You might wanna give him a real chance instead of pining after JJ for the rest of your life."
You roll your eyes
"I want JJ not Dustin, Sarah. JJ makes me laugh when I'm sad, when he laughs it's like the whole world just stops. he makes me feel as if I'm the only girl in the room when he looks at me. I know you guys all think I'm crazy and that JJ will never like me the way that I like him but I know that he does I just have to show him."
She smiles sadly at you
"Just think about what I said okay"
She unlinked your arms and strolls back over to John B.
You start think about what Sarah said what if JJ really does never like you the way you like him. What if you two are only destined to be friends. The thought broke your heart.
"Hey sorry that took so long"
You say putting on a fake smile when you finally reach Dustin
"Your fine. So your a kook who hangs out with the pogues, what's that like?"
"First of all I do like to consider myself an honorary pogue but it's great we always have a ton of fun."
You start going on about all the adventures you all went on and how you met everyone, Dustin seems genuinely interested. Maybe this whole you and Dustin thing could work out after all. A while later JJ comes and sits down next to you two and joins in on the conversation.
"Hey y/n"
you look over your shoulder to see Kie waving you over.
" I'll be right back boys"
You get up and head over to Kie

JJ's POV

Y/N had just gotten up and walked over to Kie. I'm gonna try to play nice with this Dustin guy cause she really seems to like him.
"So you and y/n huh"
I ask him
"Yeah sometimes I kind of hate when she's talking"
I laugh a little at his joke she could be a lot to handle when you first get to know her but then she grows on you.
"Yeah I feel that"
I get up to walk away.
"Man she's always talking but I figure it's worth it if I can nail her."
He smiles as I turn back towards him my face dropping I have to stop myself from punching this guy.
"Hey man y/n is young and she's only had like a few boyfriends. Maybe you shouldn't talk about her like that"
I say
"Why do you care she's just a random whore."
Okay nope now I'm gonna have to punch him
"Oh man I really wish you wouldn't have said that"
I punch him. Knocking him to the ground
"JJ WHAT THE FUCK"
Y/n comes running up to me
"Nothing he just made me mad"
I watch her drop to her knees to look over him while I walk over to Pope.
"I saw what happened is your girlfriend okay?"
He asks
"Pope she not my girlfriend. she's shallow and rich and mean and bossy and kook. She's everything I hate"
"JJ"
He rolls his eyes
" You hate everything. I think you like her and you just don't know how to express it 'cause you hate everything"
"If I like y/n I want you to shoot me"
Pope raises his fingers like a fake gun
"Pow!"
I storm over to her
"Look Y/N I'm sorry. I'm sorry I didn't come to the keg party with you. I'm sorry I punched your date but he called you a whore and it pissed me off so I punched him. And I think I really like you and just don't know how to tell you. So I'm taking you on a date... that is if you'll let me."
I watch her face go from pissed off to happy as she jumps in my arms
"I knew you liked me too"
