Scenario 1 The time for homecoming had come once again and you were dateless. This was a problem because your ex high school sweetheart would be there, ready to pity you for still being alone while simultaneously showing off their new fling, they got a new one every few months. You couldn't show up alone again and tried to find out what to do. Then you thought of something. Near where you lived there was this cute little cafe. The barista was a sweet guy named Joshua that was constantly taking little odd jobs to get more money he needed for something or other, you never really learned what. You had a good amount of money(somehow) so you decided to pay him to pretend to be your boyfriend. He was surprisingly ok with the idea and when the night of homecoming came around he was at your house, all dressed up and ready to take you there.

Scenario 2 You had only known Joshua for a week, you went to the cafe he worked at every morning and he'd always be happy to chat with you while you waited for your (beverage of choice). So it was very alarming when he invited you to come with him to a party. Not only that but he bought you some fancy new clothes and when you got to what looked like a huge mansion, he pulled you aside to somewhere private and begged you to pretend to be his boyfriend. He said he could offer you anything you wanted if you would just pretend you were together any time he called you.
