She didn't know where he was taking her. "I have to get back in time." she said. He looked at her. His eyes.. " We have plenty of time. Relax." he said, smiling. He was wearing a black cardigan. His broad shoulders were looking broader. With light brown pants. He was looking so handsome. She coincidently was wearing black coat, black shirt and blue jeans. She didn't have time for hairdo so she brushed hair and left it fall on her back. " You look good." he said .He seemed focused on driving but she felt he was more focused on her. " Are we on a date?" she asked, teasing him about his behaviour. He smiled with a smile that reached his eyes. " No we are not. I don't know anything about you and what you like, what you don't. And to tell you the truth I never dated anyone. I haven't been around much girls. It's just the girls that work with me and I call them my sisters so apology in anticipation if you feel awkward about anything." he laughed. Both of them were laughing.  "So you had never been on a date? God. " she was surprised and amused. "You will call me a liar if I say no. But I won't see you again. So I'll tell you. No I didn't. I was 15 when I joined my company as a trainee. I liked a girl back then, she was my neighbor. But when I started my career, they made me sign an agreement, out of many clauses of the agreement, one is that I can't date. For these many years I stayed away from girls because of my career." he said. Her smile was now gone. She was interested in knowing about him. "What do you actually do?" she asked. " I am an artist. I sing. I dance. I rap. I write songs. I produce them too. " she was impressed now. "Wow. You do alot." she said. He smiled "Yeah. But it has left me with no personal life. I have no one to go to when I am happy or when I cry when I feel down. My co-workers are my friends but sometimes you just can't share alot of things with them. So I have to bury them. Otherwise life's good." he paused. " So what is it that you do. And I say kudos to you that you carry medicines and bandages with you. That gave me a hint. But maybe I am wrong. Are you a doctor or anything related to medicine" she smiled. "Yes. I am a surgeon." she said. It was his time to be impressed now. "Woah. But u look so young. " he said with surprise in his tone. She smiled again. " I am 28. Old enough for my teachers and mentors to know what kind of future I have in surgery. " His face was lighting up. " you are cool. I always had this image of old, tough man as a surgeon." he stopped the car. They got out. It was some quiet place between mountains. He took out something from the back seat of the car and asked her to follow him. She did exactly as he said. They were climbing a small hill. After reaching the top he placed the basket that he took out from the back seat on the ground and took out a sheet and spread it on the ground. Then he took out an old fashioned lamp and lit it with the lighter. He sat on the sheet and placed the lamp behind him. "Come on." he patted on the empty space on the sheets. She sat down. " I was 9 years old when I came to new Zealand with my dad. He had some business here so we stayed here for 3 months. He used to take me here. We used to sit here in these hills. Any of them I don't exactly remember which one was that. And we used to look at the lights on the earth and stars in the sky." he pointed towards the city lights and then towards the sky. It was so beautiful. They must be very high up on the hills that the whole city was below them. She could see the dots of the lights .The traffic was moving, lights were moving with them. And then there was sky.. So clear that she could see so many stars that she had never seen. She was looking at stars and he was looking at her with stars in his eyes. He was happy that he brought someone here. He used to come here alone all this time. And he didn't know that he allowed her into his world, the world that he didn't share with anyone and now he was sitting there like a child who was afraid that his favorite person might not like his favorite candy as much as he did. He wanted her to like his little world. His eyes were focused on her unknowingly . Just then something sparkled down her neck. It was a gold necklace. Prettiest one, it had a ballerina with small stones in it's skirt. Ballerina was tiny but perfectly shaped. "Your necklace is cute. " he said. Her eyes lit up. "Thanks. My grandmother gave it to me on my graduation. She wanted me to remember my childhood dreams, I wanted to be a ballerina when I was a kid. So she wanted my inner child to live. She died few weeks after when she gave me this. So I never take it off. " her eyes were getting red. Maybe she got upset because of her grandmother. He wanted to change the topic. "What is your name?" he said. She looked at him. His eyes... "We should leave no strings attached. Won't it be better if we don't know eachother? " she said. " That will be unfair. You'll hear about me or see me somewhere. You will google me and there will be everything about me there, but I'll never know who you are and where do you live." he was pouting. She smiled " If you tell me this isn't a date, I'll tell you my name. I don't want to remember you for a long time." he pouted more then said " Then it's a date. I want you to remember it. " she laughed and he was again looking at her like a child looking at his favourite thing with glitter in his eyes. She caught his eyes. "What? " she asked in between her laughter. " Nothing. Just keep smiling. You look good when you laugh or smile." and ouch. There was that. The words that are enough to put a hole in your heart that can let a person enter. She didn't want that. Her smile faded away. She faced the other way, quiet. He noticed. "What happened? " he asked. "Nothing. We should go back. " she said. His eyes widened. " But why? We just got here. And there's still plenty of time before you have to leave. Is it something I said?" he asked. She looked at him. " Don't flirt with me if you want me to stay. " she said. "Flirt?  Oh. " he was surprised then embarrassed. Then said. " I am sorry. " it was his turn to be quiet now. She didn't want to upset him. " is there any other thing you have in your basket? " she wanted to make the mood lighter. "Yes. " he turned around then put the basket in front of him. "My dad n I always brought these burgers here." he said taking out two white boxes one of which he gave to her. She took it. "It's jalapeno barbeque from farrez's. The most famous one, working for about 25 years now and their taste never changed. She was surprised "Wow really? By the way I like burgers alot. I eat burgers and fried chicken almost 4 days a week." he was surprised. He looked down at her tummy and waist. She knew what he was thinking and punched him. They both burst into laughter. " Yes. I am not fat even though I should be." she said still laughing. " I won't say anything or you'll think I am flirting.....contd
