Chapter 4

Veronica POV:

It has been 6 months since Archie and I broke up. He wanted to get back together but I couldn't allow him to continue to treat me that way. Evelyn continues to flirt with him but it doesn't bother me like it use to. I wentback to New York for the summer to get myself together. I honestly needed a break from everything.

Today is the first day of school and I miss my friends. As I am walking in the front doors of the school I see Betty. "Veronica omg I missed you so much." Betty said. "I missed you too B. How have you been?" I asked. " I've been as good as I can be expected in this little town."  she said. I smiled

"Where is everybody? I asked. "They're in the lounge ,come on." she said and I followed her. Once I walk in I see everybody talking . " Did y'all miss me?" I asked everyone jumped up and hugged me except Evelyn. "So what did I miss during the summer?" I asked.

Archie answered first, "Nothing we just chilled at Pops." "So the normal. I missed Pops so much we gotta go after school. " I laughed. "If I get to spend more time with you then I'm there." he responded and Evelyn rolled her eyes. "Around 5" I asked and everyone agreed and then the bell ringed.

"Come on I'll walk you to class" Archie said. I don't know what he's thinking. Archie is my first true love and he will always have that spot, but he also hurt me bad to the core. I know I broke up with him but that's because I felt like I was getting verbally cheated on and it would lead to physically cheating and that would've broke me even more.

Technically he did let her kiss him though and then he laughed. I was in deep thought when I bumped into somebody and everything fell. "I'm so sorry, I wasn't paying attention." I said while gathering my stuff together. "You can bump into me anytime beautiful". he said and I finally raised my head and he was fine.

He has a caramel complexion with hazel eyes and curly hair. "I'm Christian but you can call me Chris" he said. "Veronica Lodge" I said shaking his hand. He was about to say something but the belled ringed again. " See you later" he said and waved and I waved back.

I turned around to see a hurt Archie. I felt bad but I don't know what to say or do. "We gotta talk Archie, meet me an hour before everyone else get at pops" I said and he nodded. I headed to my first class.It felt like I was in there forever. I waked towards my locker to put my stuff up.

When I get there I see Chris there. "So you couldn't wait any longer to see me again." he smirked. "Actually you're at my locker" I smiled. "See this is the perfect way to start my junior year out. My locker next to the prettiest girl in school." he smiled. That smiled is to die for. I smiled back and asked, " what's your next class?" " I have English Comp next" he responded. "Me too" I said.

We started walking to class. This is kind of weird. Last year, me and Archie was the it couple an now look at us. I'm happy we are still friends. After English I had a Psychology with Archie, Betty, and Reggie. Then I had Human Anatomy with Archie, Reggie, and Chris. Then last class was P.E but it was turned into cheer practice and football tryouts for the boys.

We had tryout last week. I seen Chris out on the field and he jogged over to me. "I didn't know you played football." I said smiling. "Yeah wide receiver and safety , I didn't know you cheered. That's great cause now my favorite girl can cheer me on. " he flirted. I laugh and told him good luck and kissed him on the cheek.

Archie just came out the locker room. He ran over to me. " A kiss for good luck?" he asked. "You wish" I respond and laughed. "Andrews get over here now" the coach yell. He was about to go but I stopped him. "I gotta give all my friends a good luck kiss" I said and gave him a kiss on the cheek. After practice we went to Pops.

Archie and I sat down. "So Archie umm were you upset when I was talking to Chris" I asked. His jaw clenched before he responded, " Yeah I was." "Why" I asked wondering if he still like me.

"Because you're the Veronica Lodge I was the luckiest dude in the world to date you and I fucked it up. I'm not over you Ronnie. To be honest, I don't think I will ever fully get over." He said. "Archie did I lead you on?" I asked because i am truly confused. "No, you treated me the same way you treat Jughead and Reggie and I didn't like it." he said.

"Archie you were the first boy I fell in love with and for that you will always have a place in heart. I don't think I can give you another chance right now because you hurt me badly. It hurt when she kissed you and you didn't get mad or say anything to her. You laughed and that hurt. But what really hurt was when you defended her to me. You defended your ex to you girlfriend at the time. I felt like I was the second choice and that you really still loved her. I'm sorry Archie but I don't trust you with my heart anymore.Maybe when we get older and mature, I might be able to over look it but now . . . I can't " I said.

" So that's it? I make one small mistake and it's over?" he laughed humorless. "You did this us Archie. Why are you mad at me. Tell me this then, while I was gone to New York, did you two kiss, make out, or have sex?" I asked. He silence told me the answers.

"That's why I can't give you another chance because when I was heartbroken, you were with her." He didn't say anything but look guilty. "I want us to be friends Archie, best friends." I tell him. "I don't think I could ever be just friends with you but I'll try." he respond and I smiled. The bells ringed and Betty and Jughead walks in and we were back to the core four.
