I don't remember how my parents were before they passed away in that car accident. I don't remember ever living a normal " easy " life. My daily life has always been surrounded by older men, plotting on getting illegal money, selling drugs and mostly making deals with other gangs to get what they want. My uncle's mafia gang; The Andersons ; is the most powerful one in town. Everyone seems to be afraid of them. He gets whatever he wants, whenever he needs it. They were even able to get into the police industry, many of his men are police officers, covering up for their crimes.
Leading a normal life has never been an option for me. I always dreamed about having this perfect Christmas family reunion, I would sneak out every Christmas night to watch from outside, families spend the night together. I only hoped my future would look like that, but I know it's far from happening.
I hear footsteps coming from downstairs, and I'm sure it's Jaxon leaving the house. I wear a jacket on, and follow him, I'm pretty sure he's not going to agree with me going with him, but he doesn't have a choice, I'm pretty stubborn about what I want.
He opens the door to leave the house, then stops and says;
—Go back to my room, it won't be too long before I come back home.
I can't believe he actually thinks I'm not going to be a part of this.
—Leaving me out of this is a mistake. You guys need me more than you think you do.
I can already imagine his smirk on his face, underestimating me, he turns around to face me and as I thought, looks at me as if I was a ten years old girl, totally incapable of literally anything.
—We need you? He asks me, and i'm pretty sure he's enjoying this.
—You said it. I'm the most powerful mafia leader's niece. I know all of their secrets and I can help you. Let me help.
—Look, cupcacke, there's no way I'm letting you in. It's a matter of life or death.
I tap him on the shoulder;
—It's always a matter of life or death. I don't expect any less. Then I go out of the house; I look at him and smirk then ask
—You comin?
He shakes his head in disbelief that I would do whatever I want even if he doesn't agree with it.
—If you die, it's on you.
—Totally. I reply and we get in the car and leave the place.
As we arrive to the safe house, i look around and see a bunch of men, but to my surprise, i also see bunch of women. Something i never knew i would see in a gang. I've only seen male members in my uncle's gang.
—Who's that, boss? A new member? Asks a girl in a black jumpsuit.
—She must be our new stripper; says a jerk, tall, muscly guy, while laughing and high-fiving his friends.
The guys start hyping him up for his stupid joke, and looking at me as if i really was a stripper, I roll my eyes, furious at them and as I want to reply to their idiotic comment,Jaxon says;
—That's Jayden. She's my brother's girlfriend, and my assistant for now. Whoever tries to make dirty jokes about her will have to think twice before they do, because else, they're going to end up with a black eye.
This must be the first time that Jaxon says something and doesn't make me want to punch him for it.
I look at him and tell him;
—I can look up for myself.. but thanks.
He smirks,
—Listen up, i need everyone's attention, and i need you all to deeply focus on what i have to say.
While he talks to them, i look around, searching for Aiden, but I don't see him, I wonder where he is, and start to worry about his safety.
—How bad is it boss?
—We have been warned about it by our enemy Cynthia, you tell me.
—So what are we looking at? And why did they warn us?
—I did them a favor. That was their way of paying us back, warning us. But that's it between us.
—You did them a favor? But they're-
—I know what and who they are Zayn. It's my job to make decisions so leave it.
—Anyways, tell us what's happening? Yesterday Vincent d.. died. They, killed him.
Jaxon flexes his jaw, holding himself from crying. I've never seen him this emotional.
—I know. He was my best mate. And that's why whoever we're dealing with, has to die.
—Why are they after us?
—I don't know yet, but i'll figure it out. Aiden is-
—He's back to the job?! Asks him a blonde girl with her green eyes and light skin. Her face lights up as soon as Jaxon brings up his brother. I feel a type of jealousy i've never felt before. Just to see her excitement when she hears about Aiden, makes me angry to my cores.
—Yeah, he is. He made it clear that it's only this time.
—Where is he now? She insists on asking.
As much as i hate for her to be asking about him, i'm glad she does.
—He's out there with the guys giving Vincent's family the money, him and I got a few days ago. We had a great deal, and the money belongs to his family now. I'm giving them all of it.I feel a breath of relief that he isn't out there in a dangerous situation, just giving money to the family.
I wonder why Jaxon doesn't give it to them himself, they were close friends. I find it rather odd he isn't there instead of Aiden.
Jaxon draws out a list of gang members that might be after them, but then points out that the way they killed Vincent wasn't a way any of the gang mafias around would kill someone. Then someone added to that, that their way of killing him was rather disgusting. Nothing " by the book". Jaxon then says that whoever killed him has a message to send. They somehow knew he was the closest to Jaxon and they killed him for that.
—Why are they after us, I don't get it. They must be out of here, because we don't go after each other unless we seek revenge. But we haven't caused any gang trouble for a while.
—I don't think anyone's seeking revenge. They went personal. It's deeper than that. Someone else says.
Jaxon stays silent for a while, while they starts their theories.
—Jaxon?
—I.. I don't think whoever they are, are after us.
—What are you saying Jaxon? I ask him.
—I'm saying they're not after our gang. They're after me.
