This is Dune, he's Spade's father. I have notes on the side of the drawing of how he got is scars. He has more than his best friend because he's more impulsive and careless.

This is Copperhead, Dune's best friend

This is Copperhead, Dune's best friend. He's the buff quiet guy and not quite as enthusiastic as his friend, and while he doesn't really display he emotions for others he's also pretty open with them around those he loves. Dune actually helped him through a lot of the harder and more stressful parts of the life of a soldier, and in turn Copperhead keeps Dune grounded. He's pretty passive and not as easily provoked or as impulsive as his friend, he gets dragged into things by Dune pretty often.

This is Layla, Copperhead's daughter, she's also like a sister to Spade

This is Layla, Copperhead's daughter, she's also like a sister to Spade. The creature at the bottom is her pet, Twist. He isn't drawn to scale. Her dynamic with Spade is similar to Dune and Copperhead's, except Spade hardly listens to her and Layla's more vocal and snippy. She's also pretty clumsy due to her big paws, which Spade teases her about and she somewhat subconscience of.

This is Salt, Layla's mom

This is Salt, Layla's mom. She was originally named Clearwater, but then I realized what the colors reminded me of other than cotton candy and sunsets. She's your typical caring mother but despite what she seems she's more than capable of defending herself and her family, though she's not a soldier. She's protective of her family and gets pretty anxious when Layla and Spade go to the academy and whenever Copperhead goes off to fight. To help she writes letters often and make sure the house stays in shape so they can return to a cozy and clean home. She also helps Copperhead a lot when he opens up about his emotions, and when Dune died she was more than willing to take Spade in and treat her as her own.
